Are we a bunch of weirdos?

I mean, are other people as obsessed with their cars like many of us are with MINIs? Or any material object for that matter?

I have to laugh at myself every time another stock MINI photo is displayed and I still enjoy it!

There really is something about the MINI that gets my blood moving - over and over again.

But maybe it's not such a good thing. Maybe I am just a freak...

We are definitely not the only ones out there obsessed with our vehicles. I'll see someone in a beat up lowered Civic with hub cap spinners from WalMart and that driver is so proud of their ride.

I get excited every time I see another MINI on the road and squeal "Mini!!" ..whether or not I get a wave back is another story.

Aye, I live in Sweden and wave to the few Minis I see on the road. I've only had my Cooper S 19 days 16 hours and 4 minutes. Minis are cult cars

Maybe we're normal and those who don't understand MINIs are the wierdos. These cars are so much fun that it is hard not to get obsessed with them. I think of myself as pretty reserved but I also have to laugh when I see another MINI and I flash my lights or wave.

I'll admit, I'm a weirdo. But, it's got nothing to do with the car.
I think the car gives me a better opportunity to be obsessed about something, and not get the cops involved.
It also gives me a chance to show off some of my personality since I'm normally reserved.
But really I'm a weirdo that likes to go FAST!!!

Hi...I'm Julie and I have OCMD (Obsession, Compulsive, MINI Disorder) and I'M PROUD OF IT!!

If I'm driving Molly I always tell her "Theeeerrrreeee'ssss a MINI Molly!!" Or if I'm driving/riding in my Husband's 2010 Kia Soul Shadow Dragon SE#3 "SMAUG", I always say it too and wave like a CRAZY Person!!

Should I be committed??!!

Just today, I waved like a crazy person because someone in a black and lowered MINI waved at me. Normally, I'll have a huge retarded grin to go along with it :D

No you shouldn't be committed! There are some material things in life that make us happy..one of those is our MINI.

Nope, not weird, normal car enthusiast. I am just as obsessed with my Challenger as I am with my wife's MCS. My thrill comes from ... well, I just want to race them. I race my Challenger (non-drag racing) and I'm trying to get my wife to release her Mini so I can do the same with it (or buy a second and let me adopt one of the two).

Your feelings are nothing out of the ordinary and well appreciated by the rest of the enthusiasts of the world. Everyone has the car they like (and like us drool over) and the cars (generally) love them back.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site and to the Mini World. Have an 07 S and already adding things to it. I thought I was really into my Harley (96 Custom Chopper) but I haven't rode my bike since I've got the Mini. Joined Sunshine Mini's of Pensacola, the works. Maybe I'm weird too but it's fun.

I used to be obsessed with motorcycles. But now it's Minis! After having a Mini a few years, I rarely rode my motorcycle and actually sold it last week. And I have been a life long rider. But the MINI has taken over now. I am obsessed with everything MINI!

Great responses. I guess I do see my fascination with MINIs as a healthy obsession, and as cars go, they are something special.

I've always had a thing for cars, even before I could drive. If anyone is familiar with Super Street magazine I even had a full feature on an Acura Integra I owned, but something about my love for my MINI is different. And, I agree on the response about getting excited about another stock MINI pic. I do the same thing, and I get kinda disappointed when a newbie introduces themselves but there's no pic attached.

In retrospect, if she were to yell "Prius!" at me, and keep pointing until I looked, I would probably think she was a weirdo... so to answer the OP's question, I don't know about you guys... but I think i'm a weirdo.

Does anyone else get really excited when they see the opportunity to park next to another MINI?? There are these two MINIs that always park near each other at my work place... and I felt the need to wake up really early one day (since they need to get their early to get these spots) just so we could have a trio of MINIs parked outside of our building.

... it was such a glorious day...

Not by a long shot. Go to a classic car show that features a number of different marquees and has a number of entries for each of the model of cars and start talking to owners. The affliction is widespread!

I'll say yes, ........... and proud of it. My daughter yells out anytime she even spots something similar to a MINI, FIAT500, FIT, Prius, Aveo, etc but she is getting better. She saw a Countryman today and was sure it was a MINI but was confused as to what, so I helped her out. Her misidents are getting much fewer and very much farther between (and shes 8 BTW)
So, I'm thinkin windshield banner that says "Its a MINI thing, you wouldn't understand !!!" and for the rear windows (barn doors) "Actual Size" and "I have the box it came in" or "its not cute, its cheeky. Wanna race?". That should set the tone ................

I always park next to a MINI if I find one in a parking lot. Today, someone returned the favor - I always park in the same spot next to the cross walk (one less car door next to me) and the lot was packed this afternoon. So a MINI parked next to me in the cross walk. That's the kind of weird I like.

I always park next to other MINIs!! I love the excitement of it. And I'm pretty sure it makes people do a double take.

When I had an '02 S2000, I was fairly active on www.s2ki.com.
When I had an '04 GTO, I was fairly active on www.ls1gto.com.

Like on this board, there was varying degrees of enthusiasm (fanaticism sounds too harsh). I must say that with those two previous cars, they just seemed like fairly nice cars to have and drive. My MINI is by far my favorite car ever, and it feels much more like it has personality. I've never named a vehicle before, but I've definitely thought about naming this one.
