Are we a bunch of weirdos?
When I had an '02 S2000, I was fairly active on www.s2ki.com.
When I had an '04 GTO, I was fairly active on www.ls1gto.com.
Like on this board, there was varying degrees of enthusiasm (fanaticism sounds too harsh). I must say that with those two previous cars, they just seemed like fairly nice cars to have and drive. My MINI is by far my favorite car ever, and it feels much more like it has personality. I've never named a vehicle before, but I've definitely thought about naming this one.

I'm a BMWCCA member and am reasonably active in my local chapter, but the MINI boards are just crazy about their cars. There aren't any color specific owners groups in the BMW world or grille badges. We do have a lot of people who are really crazy about the E30 though
Your color is awesome too. Low key but sporty.
I am the owner of 5 cars. 4 of them 400 hp and higher with my Cadillac CTS-V as the crown jewel and which car do I put the miles on. My 08 Cooper. Not because I want to keep the miles off the other cars, because i LOVE driving this thing! I love it, the ride, the feel, the handling, the mileage, and the looks. I never expect to, but this non-turbo 116 horsepower car has become my favorite! Insane right?

Or the Toyota FJ Cruiser forums, Land Rover Forums, or Expedition forums.
http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/ has a lot of modified 4 wheel drive vehicles, expedition motorcycles, and even massive trucks with their drivers who blog and post about their modifications and various drives all over the world. Truly amazing stuff. And some amazing photography on there form some remote places in the US and abroad.
So we are not so different, we just found something that makes us feel intensely, keeps us happy and enthused. We are really lucky, I feel bad for those people who don't get it.

We're weird. But the car makes us weird. I had a Jeep for 9 years. I loved it. It was capable, comfortable, and versatile enough for going to work and adventuring too.
The MINI, though, has brought out a whole other level of carheadedness from me. I used to take the Jeep to a quick-lube place for oil changes. The idea of doing that with the MINI seems totally crazy now. I've washed and waxed the MINI three times since I bought it in May. I started a blog about it. I talk about it at every opportunity.
That's weird. But weird in a fun, good way. Part of enjoying life is finding other weirdos who share your interests.

We're not crazy, maybe a little eccentric, but in the end truly just prideful people who happen to own some really awesome pieces of machinery. it's all the 35 year old heads perpetuating the madness that is their coveted VW's that should seek professional help!!!

What have I gotten my self into??? A bunch of WEIRDOS!!!! I got the opportunity to park next to another mini at Publix one morning before work with the same color and stripes once and I thought WOW that was so cool. It was gone when I came back and I wonder if they noticed.....
Got my mini in July and feeling the sickness.......

OK how is this for weird..... if you have a debit card with Wells Fargo you can design your own card online logged into your bank acct. So I submitted a pic of my mini with a desert background and this is my new debit card. WEIRD???

I'm weird. But I didn't get a MINI because of that. I got one it's a fantastic machine. Every time I see one (generally a Cooper, personally not a fan of the Clubman or Countryman, sorry!!!!) I get excited and just thin how gorgeous of a car it is. Speaking if weird, my ex boyfriend has a 2004 British Racing Green MCS and he loves it so much, that he has it TATTOOED ON HIM. Yeah. You're not alone in loving your car!
When I first came across this thread, I thought, no were not weirdos. Naming a car, modding and blogging about it, tattooing; these are not limited to our little imagined community. My friend has the V-Dub logo tattooed on him and, check this out: this ricer in my town named his twins Honda and Acura! (FAIL)
Weirdos or not, I think we're just a loyal niche market that BMW is lucky to have.
Well, that is how I used to think about it until after I read what one NAMer did.
To sum it up, he traded in his out-of-warranty MCS for a brand new Lexus IS 250 F, only to change his mind a month later. Realizing how much he missed his MCS, he went to the dealership to trade in the new warranty-covered Lexus for his old MCS. The whole givesy-backsy affair cost him $3000.
Now, I'm thinking maybe we really are bunch of weirdos. I've only had my MCS less than a year, so I can't see myself making such an irrational move. But down the road, who knows?

Well, I think it depends on the shop. Go to LA Ink, you're looking at probably $3,000. Go to a local shop in your area, considerably less lol. I paid $350 for this super rad robot. But I'm in the DC area so I assume things are more expensive here.
