just wondering if you all wave to one another
Hi everyone,
I'm pretty new to the MINI family - still waiting for baby Ellie to be delivered to Patrick MINI in mid March. Per other MINI owners' suggestions, I'm trying to kill the wait by scoping around the various forums. In any case, I had a random question for you guys. The other day I pulled behind a BRG/W and as we headed north on Milwaukee from Chicago Ave, we came to a dead stop where a SG MINI sat in the opposite direction. Neither driver acknowledged each other! I have to say I was a little surprised and disappointed. When I'm out motoring with Ellie and wave to a fellow MINI owner, will you all think I'm a freak? Just curious....

I don't have my MCS yet, but when I see a MINI I give the driver a big thiumbs up. I know when I get my MINI, the other MINI drivers will be more likely to respond. I will continue to wave until MINIs become too common. This is not too likely anytime soon with the limited MINI production rates.
I usually wave or flash my brights at fellow motorers. The problem is I tend to be a little racey while driving and often don't notice another MINI until it's very close...on coming traffic isn't my prime concern...weaving through the mini vans is. Don't be surprised if your car comes a little earlier than expected, mine came in about 10 days earlier than I had been told.

yesterday only, I saw a total of about 6 to 7 MINIs. Was a mixed bag of MC and MCS. I either flashed my headlights or waved at them and only 2 responded back by flashing their high beams. The others just looked the other way, ignored me or gave me a look as if they were been waved by a Martian or something.
Too many MINIs in Miami, so the "waiving" spirit has diminished greatly. But I am glad to see that still around here there are other MINI owners that keep the moroting "spirit" alive.

The waving quotient is directly proportional to the MINI density.
Lots of MINIs, little waving. Few MINI's, copious waving. I live in a town without many MINIs, so I get a fair share of waves.

WELCOME!!
I'm near San Diego and I wave - blow my horn - flash my lights - all of the above - and generally make a fool of myself everytime I see another MINI or Mini - I love my car and I don't care if I see one or 20 in a day I wave. The more the better.

I wave or honk & wave to every MINI I see. Sometimes they look too uptight, but it's always fun to do it whether you get a wave back or not. Some people just aren't social, but it's OK. Keep waving.
We wave, flash lights, smile ... but I have to say that I don't always see the other MINIs if I'm the driver or I don't see them soon enough to respond. Not trying to be unfriendly just concentrating on traffic!
I have a beef with the mini owners in northwest Indiana. I never get a wave or even acknowlegded. What's the deal? I had a Jeep Wrangler before the Mini, so I a got real used to the "Jeep wave". A lot more Mini's are popping up in the area, so can I get a wave, thumbs up, anything?
I wave all the time when I see a MINI but I don't flash my lights. (...because where I live that means something else altogether.
) I'm part of the local MINI club, and its amazing how many MINI owners really aren't into the scene at all...that probably includes waving, too. I don't care...I wave anyway. I mean, THEY'RE the ones who chose to drive a MINI for pete's sake!!! They knew (...or shoulda known) the job was dangerous when they took it!!!
I also go up and talk to new owners I meet. Really, they like it and are flattered...but do seem a little shy now and again. Sometimes I think people have come to prefer a certain anonymity when it comes to other people or "strangers." Its a shame in a way, but its also great that MINIs can smooth away some of those barriers. Wave on!!!!
