2011 Mini Cooper S Oil Grime On Fender Flares?

Hi everyone, I just purchased a 2011 Cooper S w/ JCW pkg yesterday and noticed I guess from the car sitting on the lot there seems to be like this oil grime stain on the from fender flares, not to be mistaken with tire shine or anything like that. It's a thick oil.. Any advice on how to clean this without damaging plastic?

Thanks

It's likely cosmoline. If you do a search here, you'll find multiple ways that people have used to effectively remove the goop.

Actually now that you mention that, I think it is cosmoline as it's like a gunk/goop. Let me see what I can discover.. Thanks

It's got to be cosmoline. My dealer knew about it And offered to replace the fender if unable to clean.

How hard is it to get them to replace. I just purchased my 11' 3 days ago. I passed by the dealer to show the salesman and he told me "O, that's common all the mini's have that" when I mentioned if I should make an appointment into service for this issue and responded by saying "you could however, I doubt they are going to change that for you" mind you, i have cleaned it and removed all the cosmoline using prima cosmonot from a friend that had some and it literally removed all of it. I actually spent about 1 hour or so going all around the car removing that stuff from under the hood to trunk to bottom of the door sills etc. I mean with the car being only 3 days old.. crap I wouldn't nor think I should have to put up with stained flares. Let me know what you guys recommend on how to go about this. Can I go to another dealer for service or does it have to be where I purchased the vehicle? Also, for those of you who have had it replaced how or what did you have to do or say? Thanks

When I brought my car in to fix the Leaky wiper nozzles, I told the SA that I had a stain from cosmoline and he said if they couldn't wipe it off that they would replace it.

Different Dealers will treat you differently for sure. I didn't buy from them but there service was Great.

I looked at the service order and it tells the technician to clean or replace and when the car was done the tech says he was able to clean and try and get rid of what he could.

If that's the closest dealer, I would definitely make a big deal out of it if they couldn't clean or replace.
