What new features would you like to see in the 2nd Gen. Clubman?

Seeing as MINI has come up with a couple new models over the past year I thought why not talk about some features Clubman owners would add or change.

Mine would be adding a club door on the driver's side as well.

They won't be able to do that because of gas cap location. They won't be able to move it any farther back due to North American rear-end crash safety regulations. So, unless they make the Clubman longer to accomodate a club door on te driver's side that would force the gas cap farther back

Here is my dream list, not in any particular order:

1) Driver's Side Club Door

2) AWD Option

3) Engine Temperature Gauge

4) 40MPG Highway

1. Lose the stupid doors and replace with a proper hatch.
2. One touch sun-roof
3. Current size is perfect.
4. Lose the stupid doors and replace with a proper hatch.

What I miss from other cars is motorized seat & mirror adjustments with memory.

I put both oil and water temperature gages in my Clubman, it isn't difficult.

Heck, the reason I got a Clubman was for the double doors on the back.

If they eliminated the club door it would clean up the right profile lines of the car a bit.

I also think that the rear bumper sticks out to far, it should curve under the car following the lines of the rear double doors... which I love!

I get about 43-45mpg on hwy ... A/T MC.

you should get that easily if you drive steadily between 55-70 mph

I bought my Clubman specifically because of the rear doors. I carry sea kayaks on the roof -- ok, on saddles mounted to the MINI crossbars, not on the actual roof itself -- and any type of hatch and most trunks end up banging into the gelcoat bottom of the kayaks, leaving white marks on the paint.

Some hatches, especially those with spoilers at the top, are so bad that it isn't possible to get the hatch open enough to get anything in or out when I have a boat mounted on top.

I might have ended up with a VW GTI if it hadn't been for the rear doors of the Clubman. Just sayin'

I too love the barn doors in the back and would be miffed if they got rid of them. I would like a club door on the driver's side as well- I often put stuff in the back seat and it would be easier if there was a club door on that side. Power seats- hell yeah. My wife is a very good driver- no, really and she doesn't read this site- and I don't want her to drive my car mainly because I don't want to have to fiddle around to get it back to where I like it. I wish it would honk when I lock the doors. My daughter who sits mostly in the back wishes the little window in the club door went up and down. And since this a wish list, I would love to see a "woodie" clubman option.

I got about 38 mpg today at 75+ ( more like 85+, but forum rules say I have to keep talk legal) the whole way for 450 miles, and I have an S automatic. It really isn't that hard to get good gas mileage out of a 2nd gen. MINI.

Another barn door lover here. Club doors on both sides would rock.

Has anyone heard news on the next gen Clubman? I'm toying with the idea of replacing my 2005 R53 with one, but I'm in no hurry.

Thanks!

I'd be happy if there was just one club door and it was on the drivers side. I switched to the clubman from a R53 because my kids fit in back. It would be more convenient to just open the drivers side while getting in and out than going around and opening up the passenger side.

Other than that, LOVE the club doors. At 6'4" a hatch is a headache (literally).

I'd also love to see it come 1" lower from the factory.

I'm in the same boat. I'm 6'5" and carry two kids in the back of my R53 (just short trips). The child behind me has to sit crossed legged. Not a big deal right now, but kids have a tendency to get bigger over time.

I will say I'd prefer that they leave the third door on the passenger side, only because that's the side they get pulled from at car pool.

I'm weird in that I like (Euro) station wagons, so the Clubman shape has that appeal.

I love the club doors also. Easy to get Golf clubs in and out.

I would like to see an auto tilt passenger side mirror when the car is in reverse.

Barn doors are good. Never liked a hatchback.

Electric seats and mirrors would be good.

Adjust seat bottom, up and down like in my F350 Dually!

FIX a lot of the same old issues that seem to be reoccuring in the MINIs!

Better "springs" on driver's-side door

The door is big and heavy. When opening it, I'd like to have stops, if you will, in 2 places: 1) about 1/4 open (without it coming back at me), and 2) fully open to the limit it now has. Seems like there was an attempt at this, but not a very good one.

My Clubman has less than 1500 miles on it, so I'm still getting used to it, and wouldn't really change much except the door. It would be nice if there was an indicator in the digital readout, under the speed indicator, displaying which gear I'm currently in, but I don't think you can do that with a manual transmission. Guess I'll just have to get used to having 6 gears (like I got used to 3, then 4, then 5 -- will it ever end...)

I like the barn doors -- seems like a lot of people don't.

I felt the same way when we first got ours, but you do get used to it. Give it another month or so

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm starting to get used to it. When the salesperson first told me that it had 6 gears, I said, "so, what am I supposed to do with yet another gear?" She looked a bit taken aback at first, but reassured me that I'd figure it out.

I was thinking of making a decal for the window: "Shifting-R-Us." In more than 47 years of driving, I've never owned a vehicle with an automatic, so I guess I'm all in for 6 gears on the Clubman!

Thanks again.

Don't know how it works in your F350, but the seat bottom does go up and down. Did you mean something else?

How bout a photosensitive sunroof? Get rid of the sunscreen and have a button like the colored mood lighting. 75%, 50%, 25%, black. Could be cool...and literally cooler in the cabin.

Nice ideas! Here is what I would like - though my MINI is so new I still love everything about it:

What I would change/add:
1. Power seat with memory - just in case I ever did let someone drive - be nice to get back to my perfect seat position.
2. Rear view camera - even though its a small car, it is very bad backing up.
3. Love the HK stereo overall, but need better EQ settings to get it just right...
4. Better cup-holders!!
5. Drivers side club door - but not as big a deal as I thought. The kids mostly get out on the passenger side anyway. It would just make it easier for a few occasions.
6. Even more MPG!! Who wouldn't wanted that!

What I would NOT change:
1. Saddle doors. I like this set-up! I find it really convenient and adds to the charm. Though if they could make the pillar in the middle thinner, you bet.
2. Size. I skipped the Countryman because it was just too much jump up in size and lost some of the zip to me.
3. AWD - sure have it as an option - but I personally don't want the added weight or maintenance.
