First let me say I've had ABS on my last 3 vehicles prior to the MINI. I've noticed the ABS on the MINI is rather loud compared to my previous vehicles. Loud enough for me to post here and hopefully get other MINI driver reactions. Of course, not you lucky folks who don't have to deal with snow/ice. I'm really jealous of you today. Thanks.

 

my ABS isn't that loud. my infiniti makes more noise when activated.

 

Yes, it's loud in comparison to the other full-size sedans with ABS that I've owned in the past... but it works great! This morning we had lots of ice on the roads...the ABS kicked in all the time at stops...and helped stop the MINI quickly and in a straight line. It does make a "pulsing" sound, like a highly muffled machine-gun sound...it's just the ABS system engaging and disengaging the brakes faster than a human could possibly do it.. I wouldn't worry about the noise, it's normal.

Yeh, I wasn't too worried about it because I could tell it was working fine. Left work last night and there was quite a bit of ice/snow (especially on side streets) and the ABS kicked in when it seemed it should and worked great. Just one of those things it's nice to get some user feedback. Thanks!
