With a few weeks of ownership, I'm really lovin' my MINI.

One thing that bothers me a lot is the sun visor coverage from the side. The visor is way too short and the sun hits me right in the left eye. Very annoying! Is this an issue for other MINI drivers?

Yes it is, and I haven't heard of anyone with a real solution to it yet. If you can invent something, the (MINI) world will beat a path to your door.

Yes. Except for those with no left eyes and those who only drive after dark.

my mom's gmc safari has this little slide out panel thing just in case the visor doesn't block all the way (why they didn't just make the visor longer in the gmc is a mystery to me). It'd be nice to have something like this fabricated for the mini since a permanently lengthened visor would be a veerrrrrry close neighbor with the rear view mirror or clock.

but if you want a quick solution --->

The visors are a little odd but I love the car so much that I've adjusted to it and rarely, if ever, think about it. You are right though.

Very much like the visor in my '02 Miata was. Just got used to ignoring it and keeping a selection of sunglasses in the car.

The slide out extension would be a good solution, if BMW consider that for the future MINIs. I wonder if there's any aftermarket accessory that offers something similar.

I used post-its in my husband's car when his sunvisor fell off of the ceiling.

I haven't remembered to try this in the MINI, but it worked before!

Can you elaborate on "post-its" and how it works?

Yeah it's a big problem, but I remember someone here mentioning awhile back that any larger shade might interfere with the airbag above the door there somewhere if it should go off.

But not a complete one. If you swing the visor over to the window, you'll see that it hangs at a downward angle. This lets in sunlight between the top of the window and the top of the visor's free end. An extension would continue at that downward angle. So depending on sun position, it may not help at all.
