R50/53 Temp Rings at 37F???

Why is there a ringing noise when the outside temp gauge hits 37F??? Is there something significant that I'm unaware of with that temp. I would think it would be set up to ring at 32F (freezing point).

Ahhhh, the age old "Dinging Bell" Question.......


37 Degrees is the point when black ice can start to form on untreated roads and particularily bridges and overpasses.

I see. Probably should have searched out this topic. I've had the car almost a year so it wasn't a pressing issue rather something that always seemed strange to me before your explanation. Thanks for the response!
