A suggestion was made to have a club picnic this Fall so we're planning one. In addition, since most of us can't easily get a set of golf clubs into their Minis we'll go with a form of golf that fits Minis and miniacs! If you can throw a frisbee you can play disc golf. We'll be joined by the good folks at Hendrick Mini.

Details still need to be worked out for food, prizes, etc.. As things are worked out I'll post them here. If you're interested post here so I can get an idea how many to plan for.

DETAILS:

The picnic will be held as shown above on October 9th. The location is Kilborne Park which on Kilborne Dr. off of Central. The address is 2600 Kilborne Drive, Charlotte. It's around the corner from the Landmark Restaurant where we've met a couple of times for breakfast.


The tournament will run first, beginning at 10:30 followed by the picnic around 1:00 PM. We're limited to 50 people as that's all the shelter will accomodate. The shelter is located adjacent to the tennis courts.

There are 2 co-located courses called Kilborne and Skilborne, with Kilborne being the one most of us will play. You ringers will play Skilborne (you know who you are). We'll have maps and scorecards. The tournament will start at 10:30 but if the players could show up by 10:00 we can get everyone started on time.

We'll be selling some specially imprinted discs in lieu of an entrance fee and purely voluntary. The proceeds will go to Speedway Children's Charities. The driver discs will sell for $16 and the marker discs for $2. We have only 50 of each. Peter Gebhardt will also have a limited number of approach and putt discs for sale at real good prices. For divisions we'll have Men, Women, Kids under 12, and Closest to the basket (hole to be determined). There will also be a putting contest. We have prizes promised from Hendrick MINI and DDM Works. More may show up. We'll still have major bragging rights for the winners of this major sporting event. We'll see what we can come up with. The primary objective is to get out and have some fun together as MINIacs.

After my year long hiatus, I've finally got enough free time to start back coming to events! Count me in for this. I've got an extra set of discs too if anybody wants to borrow them.

Do we need to bring our own discs? We will all (4) be at the picnic and 3 for the mens tournament. One old man (Rick), a 16 yr old (Quintin) and a 13 yr old (Logan).

 

You can bring your own discs. We'll have some Innova drivers available for sale to benefit Speedway Children's Charities. They're normally about $20 and we're selling them for $16.

 

And they will have a cool design on them!

We are good with bringing a dessert or an appetizer.

 

Put me down for the picnic but no golf. I get more than enough workout cutting the lawn and thats too much walking.
