Jl Audio 8W7

I wanted to get some feed back on the dual Jl Audio 8W7 stealthbox. I have an Ford Excurision with alot of bass and looking for some on my new mini. It's 1000watts for the amps I have and I have another amp for the highs.

You should look into the Integral Audio solution. Much stealthier install, and with the JL setup, it looks like your trunk is useless.

You can still use the trunk with the JL. It comes up about 3 inches. It's alot more power 1000 vs 250 watts.

JL's price is more than double IA when you factor in the required HD amp.

From the pics I saw it has an open grill. So if you put anything back there, it will touch the subs. Unless they have some sort of cover.

But I have to ask: Why the hell would you even need 1000w? Have you ever heard a system like that? It's all bass (or even on the "good" ones where they've got a complete build, it's way to loud for listening). These types of systems are only worth it at a car show or something similar.

My Excurision has 5500 watts. My only concern is the grills. That's way I'm asking if anyone has them and how are they working out.

I put a 5500 watt system in a Scion xB one time. The top of the car would bow upwards, and I'm sure with the right music he could have busted the back glass. Totally nuts...

Is there a good aftermarket alternator for the minicooper to support this much power?
