While the wife's Clubby S is in for annual servicing and a few minor issues being checked out, we got a Cabrio S for a loaner. She instantly fell in love with it. I've never had a flop-top before, so I never really understood the allure until now. It's like the closest you can get to a motorcycle on four wheels. What a total freakin' blast! It's already going to take an extra day to check out a couple of electrical gremlins (seat heater and iPod adapter quit -almost at the same time), which is how we ended up with a loaner. Needless to say, she's hoping it's going to take a few more days.
My wife has the panoramic sunroof on her R56. When I bought mine I opted for the hardtop for weight savings, but my dirty secret is that I love riding in the wife's car on a nice day with the sunroof open. I can only imagine how much more free it must feel in a Cabrio. If I have the disposable money I'd probably get the JCW Roadster when it comes out. Screw weight savings...I want fun!

I hear that! When I got my S, I took one they located with all the options I wanted plus the sunroof that I would not have ordered if I had optioned it out from scratch ... and for the same reason as you - weight savings. But there are days - like today - that I do crack it all the way open, and love it. A Cabrio would be just a little too impractical for me, unfortunately - I need all the room I have now to lug keyboard gear around. It all fits nicely in the S now, but I sure couldn't get by with less space. Too bad.
PS: The wife says she's not giving it back!

Converts are nice But you will NEVER get the feeling like on 2 wheels.
I Love to ride Motos and it's just a Passion of mines.
Oh, I know that well ... here's my scoot for the very few times I give the MINI a day off. At 1800cc's, the motor is bigger than the MINI's -- and curiously the more highway miles I put on the MINI, the closer the fuel mileage gets between the two! But as connected as the MINI is to the road, ya still can't beat two wheels for that feeling of flying without flying.
Here's wife in the loaner:
And of course the administration gives their nod of approval:
(Hope nobody from Inskip sees we let the pups in the loaner!)
