Power Window Problems

Hey All,

The driver's side power window in my R53 no longer functions, not even when the door opens and closes. I have the bentley manual on the way.

I'm trying to figure out whether I should purchase a new motor with a regulator or without a regulator. When I press the switch down for the PW I hear a single click of unknown origin. This helped me eliminate possible fuse problems. The pax side window functions normally. I plan on replacing this myself.

Could someone possibly help me discern whether or not I should purchase the motor with or without the regulator, because there is a price difference.

Thanks!

Jon

I can't really help you too much, but in the short term....

My pass window does not function occasionally when the weather turns hot. A temporary fix is to hold down the window switch while giving the door a nice bang with your fist, just above the speaker towards the front of the door. For some reason this works for a while.

Just get the motor, you only need the regulator if you hear the crunching sound but the single click is just the motor.

Way, is the install on that pretty easy? I'll need to do it eventually.

I did mine by myself. Not terribly difficult. I bought the special tool.

thank you all for the comments, I had problems with the passenger power window of my mini 2004, I found the way to take the door panel to see if I could solve it, when finally I found this blog, I bang the door with the switch on and it worked, I banged right on the motor, like 4 to 6 inches from the tweeter, I know the motor will eventually die, but not yet, thanks again.

Its not bad, taking out the glass is the hardest part, and realigning it.

I got a new regulator but I don't have the tool for the glass, is it still possible to do without the tool?

Window regulator binds

I have installed a new regulator in the door. Now the system seems to bind (for lack of a better way to describe it). If I lower the window all the way down and let it sit, when I try to raise it I can see the cables on the regulator flex when the motor tries to actuate the regulator. I have removed the entire regulator and inspected it for any defects. I reconnect the regulator and the system works.

This has occurred twice and I am tired off fighting with those nuts on the window. Do you have any suggestions?

First you need to align the glass. 83300494251 , Then reset the window points
