Time Check - I need a stick on clock!!

I have Connected/NAV - I find it annoying and dangerous that I need to search around to find the clock! It seems that the LED clock moves screens, depending which function (radio/navigation/MPH/MPG... etc.) I am in.
I really wish that there was a dedicated (analog) clock which was part of the instrument panel.
Are there any really cool stick on clocks? Where to mount?
Thanks!

I'm still trying to figure out how I did it, but I have been able to display the click when using Connected and playing music from my iPhone. Usually, though, I just hit the Home button twice after I start the music to get back out to the main screen and the time will display.

What do you mean by stick clock? Is this one that sticks on to a surface somewhere?

I also would like to have the time always available to see. Can you explain (again or further) what you did?

Thanks,
JR

What screen do you want to be on when you see the clock? At some point, I was able to access my iPhone through the Connected interface, viewing album art, and also viewing the time. Still can't figure out how I did it. You CAN view the time by going through the audio, yet not Connected interface. However, navigating through that is a pain.

I really am just looking to see if any others have purchased any cool time pieces (perhaps two or three inches round - ?Mini logo) which would stick to a surface (two faced tape or velcro) on the dashboard
Then, I could have a spot I could glance at in an instant for time check!!

I completely loose track of time when I motor. Have to take off the polarized sunglasses to see the time on the radio. I didn't get connected.

Polarized glasses have been out forever, you would think the auto manufactures would accommodate that, my wife's BMW has a heads up display that is completely invisible unless you tilt your head...

These aren't stick on, they fit in a gauge pod... a couple are close to the style of the MINI gauges.. http://www.autometer.com/search_results.aspx?q=clock

The LCD display controls light transmission by changes in polarization. So it needs a polarizing filter to be seen. Unfortunately this conflicts with your polarized sunglasses in some orientations.

or

or

I wonder how many of these can be read at night?

My stick on clock

OK - here is what I ended up getting - a Bell stick on clock from Napa Auto Parts for $3.20!!

I think it looks good with the dash. What do you think? I definitely like how there is one fixed place to look for the time now.

(Sorry, I don't know why the picture is showing up sideways - when I open it up on my computer, it's not.)

I ended up re-coding the car to display the time & temp where the speed is normally shown, I'm able to switch between speed and time/temp with the button on the turn signal stalk... My Garmin displays the speed as well as my radar detector, really didn't need the speed in the tach....

How did you do that?

mjgood:

How did you do that?? I have been trying to reprogram my tach display like yours to show the time and temp. I did it on my first 3 MINI's but I can't find anything in my Countryman manual about reprogramming it. I even called my MA and he said the Countryman could not be changed from displaying the speed.

I used NCSExpert to change some of the programming options in the car, here is a reference link NCSExpert
There are a few other things that can be changed: Fog lights on with high beams, hazard lights double flash, close windows from key fob, and several more....
This is a link that was started so people that do the coding can help those that don't NCSExpert Coders, if you don't want to get into the coding, someone in the MINI community should be able to help you out..

I just noticed that you're in Houston, which is where I live....
I'm just getting my feet wet with the coding, it's a little scary at first, but my background is in computers and I'm enjoying this.... my car is still running fine

Thanks for the introduction. The changes you describe are very interesting, and the capability to improve/screwup your own vehicle attractive. I'm accustomed to programming almost anything, so this may be my next project.
