My "Semi-Home made" Red Color Line is FINISHED

I purchased some punched red leather armrest covers, shift and e-brake boots from redlinegoods.com to spice up my interior and add some color.

I ordered 3 feet extra of leather with the intention of wrapping my dash color line. It was really easy and I am SOOOO HAPPY with the results

I removed each piece, degreased them and sprayed with 3M 90 High Strength adhesive.

I stretched the leather over each piece and trimmed about 1/2" of excess around each piece. I used super glue gel and tacked the entire outline of each piece and folded it around the edges.

I'm really happy with the brightness and feeling of the leather. I would highly recommend Redlinegoods and their products.

I'd be happy to answer any questions if anyone wants to give this project a shot. Its really cost effictive if you want to add some color and make your MINI stand out .

BTW- My good friend has a business making custom fishing rods and made me the matching shifting **** with Whalen insert.

Looks great!!! I covered my center armrest with leather from Redline and it made a world of difference. I'm interested in how you covered the color line on the dash?

very good job. I dont know but think its still missing something though. If you can get the seats restitched with red I think it would all tie together well.
All in all very professional

Automan,

I don't know if I wanna get that extreme (or expensive) with getting the seats restitched, but I considered the neoprene red/black seat covers as protection.....I'm hoping to see some at the Dragon and see how the color looks..

Looks fabulous. Now all you need is the black cocomats with the red dots.

I just ordered the E-brake and Shift boot from them. I'm glad to hear that you are pleased with the product. They are great to deal with. They caught an error I made while ordering, E-Mailed me to confirm, and they were right. What I had ordered would have been UGLY. Now I just need to figure out how to take the **** off of an automatic......

More info on doing the dash colorline please. Hard to remove? Any fit problems with the leather? Thanks!

@White3,

The dash pieces are not to bad to remove. I went to lowes and bought a long shank #25 (or was it 20?) Torx driver to be able to get to all the screws.

I started on the drivers side and removed the kick panel directly below the steering wheel and set it aside.

Then I removed the left vent and the color line piece behind the Tach. There are plenty of threads on how to do this online and even a you tube video showing a guy teaking his entire dash apart. I don't have the links off hand.

Most of the three color line pieces are held on my two screws on top and two from underneath. Once you pop off the colorline pieces and the covers next to the hinges inside the secret compartment you can see almost everything.

The wrapping was easy and since the ends of the wrapped pieces are tucked in behind the vents or other trim pieces, I didnt need to be flawless on wrapping the ends and corners. I just super glued all the perimeter and kept it all wrinkle free.

Its a simple proces if you go slow.

Larry

The texture on the dash looks interesting. Can you add a close up?

I hope this pic helps...for some reason the exposure on my camera washes out some of the "richness" of the red leather. It does the same thing by making the gray strip on the doors and boots look white.

That velvet dash looks Big Pimpin'.......

Thanks for the close-up. Looks real sweet. I wonder what the dash-top would look like in the same wrap?
