I am getting ready to go and have the MINI all loaded up. We are going up a bit early and staying a bit late. I got to say, we built this all Aluminum horse trailer so we could camp and haul our toys. It works great and it will still be around for the grandkids. I also have a 14 foot Boston Whaler that fits in it. The porch up top is great for the races, and you cant see the front half but it is a full up RV with a slide out. It is 40 feet long overall. Sadly I wont be staying at Fontana Village but am at Tumbling Waters right down the road.

I tow WITH the MINI in my setup instead of towing the MINI...

 

Is that a standard, three horse, slant trailer? I had no idea my MINI would fit in there, but then I never tried. I'll have to go out and measure ours.

REALLY?? You’re going to one of the biggest Mini events in the country and you’re not even driving the one car that is most infamous as being a motoring car?? I mean seriously, even the manufacturer installed a gauge to measure how much you motor with your top down.

A sad day indeed....

Pull the car out, pack it to the gills and MOTOR ON.... Half the fun of going to an event like this is driving. I drive mine just to drive... no destination needed.

Can you give me more detials on how you've got the "little bed" set up in your Clubbie? I am seriously considering a long-distance trip in the summer and want to sleep in the car a couple of nights to extend the distances I travel. This looks to be the perfect way for me to do it. Sorry about the threadjack!

 

 

Sure, , I actually took the passengers seat out which is very easy (except the airbag warning will stay lit on the dash the entire trip). In place of the seat there is a standard sized cooler set on two 2x4's set flat, one under each side of the cooler (front and back). This leveled it out nice and even with the folded down back seats and kept the cooler bottom from rocking on the metal seat runners. Then I put a 4' x 20" (or 22") plywood (3/4" thick) "topper" on the cooler to support a greater width and length (cooler too small L x W). I had a child's size twin foam mattress in the shed which fit perfectly over everything. It was all sized so I could still drive and use the shifter.
I was on the road for two weeks and I chose this over my first trial outing, which kept the passengers side seat in the car. I may have left it in if I was only occasionally going to need to sleep in the car. . . . Lots of other details, if you want to know them?
