Fluctuating gas milage???

Has anybody else had the problem with fluctuating gas milage? I use the same gas from the same store 95% of my fill-ups (the same Shell station that the dealer gets their gas from) and I notice that sometimes i will get milage from 23-28 MPGs in the city and 28-32 MPGs on the highway. I usually drive the same routes and the same way. It just baffles me why i get such a dramatic difference in the mpgs....

My first tank of gas was not good, but since then, it has remained pretty consistent. I am averaging 30-31 mpg in my normal daily commute and run around town trips (mix of interstate and in city driving) and 36-38 mpg with out-of-town interstate hwy travel generally averaging 65-75 mph.

I am having similar numbers with nearly every tank. Of course, when I get the lead foot syndrome things are not so great. Haha.

After nearly a month of ownership, mine is consistently getting 32 mpg for my normal daily commute. This is in stop and go traffic and trips in and around town and occasions of "lead-footing". That's better than my '98 VW Jetta.

A 5 mpg gap is a little large I think. I'm about 28-30 town, 31-33 hway. It could be your routes: I go downhill about 4000 feet to Phx and get 38 mpg, then come back and it's back to 32.
