2011 MCSa / 300 miles / Oil around filler cap

Just picked up my MCSa last week. This morning, while showing off the engine bay, I noticed some oil around the filler cap. Took it to Patrick MINI, and they took it in. About 30min later, they come out and say they couldn't see any issues, and that if it happens again, it's more than likely the filler cap.

Anyone else with a 2011 have oil around their filler cap? Just wondering if this is normal or not.

The seal was probably nicked. Just take it in again if it's a problem. The dealer is probably just wiping off the oil and sending it back out.

Yeah, that's what they did. Although, they did take it over to a Countryman and compare it. So it's probably, OK, but I'm going to keep my eye on it.

Any updates on this? I notice that there are oil residue (very light buildup) around the oil filler cap. Checked the rubber o-ring/gasket in the cap and it looked good. Is this normal?

Obviously make sure to clean it up and see if it returns, it was probably just a small spill. But, it could be your Valve Cover leaking as well as the oil will end up near the filler cap. Either way keep an eye on it, it's usually a very slow leak so I wouldn't worry about immediate danger.
