Gear Indicator Light on Shifter

The "P" on my gear shift indicator is not going out after I cut the car off and remove the 'key'. What does this mean?

I believe it's supposed to do that. Your radio will also power up for a while after you've turned to car off, and there are probably some other things too. I think this is explained somewhere in the owner's manual, but I don't have mine at hand to verify.

Parking Shift Indicator Light

My Parking indicator light does not every go out and now I've notice the Start Button light has started staying on also. It hasn't been doing it long enough for me to know if it goes off eventually. I have had it in for service and it was not mentioned but I will ask at the next service visit.

Your key fob may have activated it when you got close to the car.
One morning, go to the car w/o your fob and look in. Is it on or off?
I say this because mine stays on awhile after shut down but I've never really gone back out to check. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow.

Any press of the lock/unliock buttons will send the car into a ON mode of sorts and some things will activate and the "P" light is one of them.

You are correct. I tried it yesterday and the 'P' light stayed on for awhile after shut down and when I went out later as soon as I hit the unlock on the key fob the 'P' lite up.

Now we all know.

Undoubtedly not, otherwise the OP would not have opened the thread.
Some have not had their cars for years.
