11 clubman trans..

My clubman seems to have a issue with the transmission,it only has 2000 miles on it, when i shift from reverse to drive, foot on brake as i shift by the way, there seems to be a serious hesitation before it starts to move forward.... anyone experiencing this hesitation? should i call the dealer?

What do you mean by hesitation. if you lift you foot off the brake and do not engage the clutch the car is going to stay there for a few seconds as there is this thing called Hill Assist and it holds the brakes for a few seconds to allow you to release the clutch with out the car moving. Personally I don't like it but then again l learned to drive a stick 35 years ago.

Opps is yours an automatic if it is disregard what i said above. And at that point i have no ideas for you.

Seems to me I read another recent thread in which someone was experiencing the same thing. I don't know if they've resolved it, but I'll mention to you what I mentioned to them from my experiences: the only time I've seen this kind of behavior in an automatic was when I owned a '90 Grand Am that sprung a leak from a transmission line running either to or from the radiator (for cooling of the transmission fluid); when the fluid level got low enough, the transmission started slipping on me. Fortunately, I stopped driving the car when I first noticed it and got a tow before I completely ran out of fluid.

First step is to check the fluid level in your transmission. And either way, I'd make plans to get it into the dealer if it's under warranty; trusted independent mechanic if not.

I'm pretty sure the '11 MCSa has something going on with hill assist. I definitely feel the rear brakes releasing after a brief delay when backing up and putting the car in drive. I do not notice this behavor in my wife's '10 MCCSa. It is really noticeable backing out from my garage in the morning (have a slight downward slope to the driveway).

To describe it a little more fully, there seems to be a hesitation involved and I do feel/hear the rear brakes release.

I'm assuming that you have an automatic. There can be a noticeable lag between depressing the gas pedal and the car actually getting underway. Maybe that is what you are experiencing. Try the same operation with the Sport button on. If the symptoms go away, or are greatly reduced, then I would say it's O.K. and that you are experiencing the drive-by-wire lag that others have complained about. If you don't have an automatic, I'm sorry for the threadjack....

My 2011 MCS auto does the same thing. It's the Hill assist releasing the brakes after a second or two (didn't time it). My driveway has a slight slope and it happens every time I park it there and I also noticed it on other inclines/slopes. I think it's a pretty neat feature myself.

Hill assist on an automatic is like flowers on a tank. What is the point, the automatic equipped car isn't going to roll backwards on a hill. Take your foot off the gas and the car wants to creep forward, not roll backwards.

It largely depends on how steep the incline is. I guarantee I can find you a few hills around Pittsburgh where an automatic will try to roll backwards. When I was first learning to drive (using an automatic), I was taught, when starting out on a steep incline, to hold the brake with my left foot and gently apply gas until the vehicle pushed lightly against the brakes, then release the brake pedal and continue up the hill.

Granted, in most situations with an automatic, Hill Assist is redundant; but in cases where the vehicle will try to roll backwards, it probably does save some wear-n-tear on the transmission.
