wow a lot of info. good work. i just wanted to let you know that agokart (me) and chad123 (also me) are the same person and you have me on as both and since i really am only one person (unless you want to count my mini, the real agokart) so you might want to take one name off (i changed screen names a while back). but it doesn't matter one way or the other to me

this is going to be so much fun! since a bunch of us are driving down (i belive thursday) maybe other states heading south from Michigan want to join in the caravan down. i think there will be at least 5 of us and will be leaving way early in the morning to motor down with quickness. just a thought, i thought i would throw it out there.

Awesome job, April!
I just have one question/concern... Do you think 110+ MINIS will fit at Tapoca? We had less than 10 there last year and it seemed we were cramped (when we went for dinner and to hang out with the Tapoca gang.)

We have quite a list of MINIs and Owner going to the Dragon this year, it's going to be a great event. I can't wait to see everyone.

Ya but if he shows in the Elise, he’ll be pulling up the rear.

>>No worries about parking Holly, Tapoco has assured me it will be no problem. They typically serve the meal for the Miata groups that run the Dragon and had 200 of them parked there at one time. They'll essentially be giving us the run of the entire place since the whole lodge and all the cabins have been booked by us.

Barbara, do you prefer to get PMs here or on MINI2?

It would suck to have to pull a lawsuit against anyone who organized and/or promoted it. And it seems AprilWhine is the organizer... so she must be assuming complete liability, right?

Take a look at the Vegas meet thread and you'll know what I'm talking about.

I can't wait - this [non-official, non-monetary, and fully voluntary] event will be a total blast!

April - I hope this isn't redundant, but are we doing a Parade down the Dragon on Friday morning like last year? What about the Meet-n-Greet at Fontana Thursday night? Any more events planned?

Cheers,
Ryan

Making OFFICIAL notices makes it a liabiltiy to the organizers it is now not UnOfficial

the fact that no money will be exchanged does not release the fact that this is a Publicized Motoring EVENT, which causes legal concerns, especially for ANYONE who has already publicly assumed a role as an organizer/host or sponsor

Nah, we're just a group of like minded individuals getting together to drive the coolest road on the east coast for a couple of days. Its definitely every man/woman for themselves. If anything tragic happens its on the individual(s) to make it right. April is just coordinating info, no liability on her. Its a drive at your own risk party. And having said that, for anyone who has never driven this road, take the road seriously and don't be an idiot. You miss a turn and you got between a 50 and 200 foot drop waiting. Not being an alarmist but Ray got me thinking and I'd hate to see someone crash and burn. See ya'll at the gap.

like minded = organized group of

any publicly organized meet, especially a motorists meet, which has detailed and Organized information... the organizer(s) of said meet can be held liable.

Responsibility is a big word... Rafthos, why don't you offer yourself as one of the assistant organizers. Charity work! there is always someone else to blame. And the legal system helps us do that

If I were going to organize or sponsor a track day or driving school I would get the insurance, but for this type of drive I just don't see it happening. This is a public road and as adults all drivers are governed by the rules of the road. This isn't a formal event like the miata meet, no club membership required, its just a group of people meeting up to drive. There is an "informal" parade and a couple of dinners, as long as nothing happens during the dinners or on the parade drive then there isn't a legal leg to stand on. After the parade lap its just people driving as they choose where they choose. If everyone chooses to drive hwy 129 then thats great, if they want to drive the Cherahola thats great too, Blue Ridge Parkway is also a great drive. No one is telling anyone what to do. Maps may be had at the Tailofthedragon.com . Heck Ray I don't even have Health insurance why would I worry about this?

I'm agreeing with rfibanez. There is no way I would organize anything like even remotely close to the Vegas event or the Tail of the Dragon event without insurance.

You should be more worried if you don't have health insurance
