Drivetrain Riss Racing vs. Exhaust Depot ???
Riss Racing vs. Exhaust Depot ???
I have an Invidia q300 exhaust on the way. i have come across a good deal on both the Riss Racind cat less downpipe and the exhaust depot cat less down pipe but i don’t know which one i should go with
Please help! I need to make my decision by tomorrow morning 11am.

Is the power gain really noticeable on your JCW? Do you get any CELs?
Beware of the Riss Racing pipe. I've had mine on a long time without issue, but there is one thing that really irritated me. The length of pipe at the last bend of the Riss Racing downpipe is a bit too short and you'll have a ***** of a time getting on a bolt-on cat back. Invidia might be different but don't expect any promises from any company especially Riss. I had mine cut and welded with 3-bolt flanges to connect my DDM Works exhaust. If you have a lot of tension in the downpipe to catback connection, you'll pop the cat-back off eventually during hard wide open throttle pulls in low gears due to the twisting of the engine. This is what happened to mine before I got everything welded and done right.
Power was very noticeable, especially above 3500rpm. i got a CEL after 400km. it says increased emissions on the gps and keeps the engine check light on. if you go behind the car you can smell the Burnt gas alot more. I plan on getting the access port as soon as its available for AUS spec cars. Also mine was a direct bolt on, very easy, no probs.

thanks everyone for your input. i decided to hold off and not rush into anything, whats the best over all downpipe to go with the q300 exhaust? i dont want to cut up anything i just want the best bankg for my buck
Exhaust Depot was supposedly one of the only true bolt-ons to be made to the correct dimensions as the OEM downpipe. I have a feeling you'll be headed to the weld-shop no matter what though.
Its not just an obsession

I have the Riss Racing DP and everything bolted up nicely. I have a magnaflow exhaust, and I did have to move it forward a little which was easy since it is a multipiece system. You shouldn't have any problem with the Q300 and a RR. I used a cat sim fouler and I tend to get a CEL every 500-700 miles, so it's not perfect but good enough for me.
120 is a really good deal what's the size and brand and power gained? I'm leaning tward the riss its only 200
Why would you waste money a catback that cost 500$+ when you can do straight 3 inch pipe for 100-150$ that does the same thing? And the sound isn't bad at all? If I had a good recorder I could let everyone hear how it sounds. Also a 2.5 inch downpipe is a waste of money and labor for maybe 5 hP gain, the 3inch only gains 10hp but it also not worth it for CELS and most good downpipes cost 500+. Best bang for buck is 3inch straight pipe cat back, boost tubes, intake and AP tune.

I agree with AkFarina, I’ve been trying to decide for a long time but 3" seams too much. i went with Riss Racing cat less and ceramic coated got it new for $180 couldn’t pass it up and the Invidia was $500 in my mind a good price because iv gone down the custom rout before and it was more like $300 and it wasn’t the prettiest. Buying a brand name one will insure the sound i want as well as better quality. Theyre both in the mail now and for the codes it won’t really matter i have the access port
3inch is not too big and it's been proven that 3 in will make power power with room to grow, idk how new you are or some other people on this forum are with cars but turbo cars need ZERO back pressure, in no way can running a larger exhaust on a turbo car hurt you. Alta and a few other "mini" performance companies have already proved it.
Thx :-)
