Convertible top sealant?

I just got my 2007 R52 last saturday and in reading the manual I noticed that the convertible top has to be treated every so many washes to maintain its water shedding ability? I called the dealer to ask them and they said that Mini offers a product for about $35 that you spray on.

Is there anything I can buy at the FLAPS that meets or exceeds what this product does, hopefully for less than $35/bottle?

(FLAPS stands for Friendly Local Auto Parts Store)

I use 303 High tech fabric guard. I like to roll it on with a small microfibre paint brush rather than spray. Less waste and you don't get it all over the windows and paint. I don't wash the top with soap, just the back window . Vaccuum works well too.
My 5 year old top looks nice and black

Thanks for the recc's - I went with the 303 from Amazon. I'll try it out and see how it works. If I get dissatisfied, I can always try the raggtopp. Thanks again!

Another vote for 303. I use it on my S2000 top and it looks new after 3.5 years.

When I had my Boxster, I always used 303. It worked great. That has been a few years though. If you are looking for options, find a local boat shop. They always carry great products for Canvas tops. The same products that you use on the canvas tops on a boat work great on a convertable also.

I use Woolite for dark fabrics to wash the top, then the 303 as others have mentioned.
