How can I tell what stereo system I have
I just picked up an 08 mcs, I am not happy with the stereo and am trying to figure out what stereo system I have so I can figure out the best way to upgrade. I have 3 speakers in each door, 2 tweeters in the a pilers and 2 speakers in the rear.
If you have tweets in the A-pillars, then you have the Hifi system (or someone put in aftermarket tweets, lol). Later models of the 2nd Gen have the Harmon Kardon system, which has better speakers and an upgraded amp. But since you have a 2008, you would have just the Hifi.
So you should have a speaker in the lower front doors, a speaker in the upper front doors, tweeters in the A pillars, and in the rear a 6x9 with a tweeter in the middle, on each side. So the four speakers in the doors, two front tweets, two 6x9s, and two rear tweets = 10 speakers...

I have an 08 MCS with the HiFi option and I also am less then satisfied. I found that setting the Treble at 4, The Bass at 2 and the fader three clicks forward the stereo does not distort that much at higher sound levels. I also found that using an MP3 Player (I have a ZUNE HD) which has an amplified signal makes a world of difference and does not cost an arm and a leg like an upgraded stereo system.
