Can't get the rail accessories to fit in front of parking brake?

All:

The clip dibbles for the cup holders, etc. fit fine in the rear of the front rail, and all of the rear rail. But I can't get them to fit in front of the parking brake handle- i.e. behind the ipod connectors, as seen here;

I see that there are 'ramps' coming in from either side, but I would like to be able to have a cup holder all the way in the front of the rail. The demo car at the dealership had one there, so I know it's possible! Has anyone been able to do this, or come up with a fix?

Thanks,

Paul.

Are you sure you saw them set up there? I've tried several different ways and nd the cup holder just does not work. Even if you take the sun glass case as you have it in the picture and try to slide it all the way forward...it only goes so far before it stops. There are some type of stops built inside the rails at certain points that stop the accessories from going past that point. Even if you could move it forward or remove the stops ...releasing the hand brake to down position would be impossible.

Good to see you again, Flyer.

There has been a thread where someone pried out the stops without a problem.

That may be helpful.

I find it funny that you saw this at the dealer. Apparently they think it is poor design too. Look at this thread. I did it in five minutes.

Thanks for the link...thought of removing them as well, just was hesitant. As you mentioned still pretty tight with the hand brake. But at least it's another option. I'm waiting for the release of the cradle for the console, sounds like it might be this month. Another option but an expensive one. Around $150 ish I think. Hey RS... Still waiting ?

Does the car come with rail accessories, or are they all a la carte?

2 cup holders, sun/eye glass holder and a I pod/phone holder come with the rail.

All:

I am positive I saw a rail accessory that far forward in the demo rig- just not sure how they did it. I know you can't slide them forward- but it appears the 'stops' are actually areas where the rail necks down on the underside.

I'll try what 03 Mini-S did.

Thanks,

Paul.
