Dimensions of OEM driving lights?

I'm awaiting the delivery of my '11 MCS. Since there was a refresh this year, the old brackets won't work with the current grill which means they won't be installing the driving lights I ordered before delivery. My MA told me they should come in within a month he guesses, and they will do my install then. In the meantime, I'm debating whether to just go aftermarket and save some money, but I really like the size of the OEMs. I can't find anywhere what size they are. I can find Hellas and PIAAs in all kinds of sizes (up to something that looks like a dinner plate to me ) but want to see if I can get close to the OEMs.
Thanks,
Annette

These lights are cool, not too big and something different.

I believe the oem lights are closer to 5 1/2" (not 4"). I tried Hella 500s on my car for awhile but decided they were too large for my tastes (6 1/2" dia). I just switched to 5" Wipac polished stainless steel lights from England. They're available from RDX International Only on eBay UK for about $90 delivered without a wiring harness (I used my existing Hella wiring). A wiring harness is available separately. If you're at all handy, you can make your own brackets. I made mine out of 1/8" steel angle iron and mounted them to the backside of my JCW grill using 2 bolts thru the grill.

My measurement of the lights was the lens, I assume yours was the whole unit.

You're right: I'm referring to the overall diameter. The lens on the Wipac is 4" whereas the overall diameter is 5".

This is a pic of some aftermarkets I really like. They are PIAA 520 SMR. Maybe I like them because the I love the car .

Here's the OEMs, still like them the best but very pricey.

There are covers made for the OEMs, right?

OEM's are still just halogen as are many of the aftermarket. If you want something really sharp, check these out: https://www.bajadesigns.com/NET/P-61...+Driving+Black

Four different beam patterns.
3 colors on the trim rings
Available as halogen (why bother) or 35 watt or true 50 watt HID.
**** adjustable height adjustment.
Ballast is inside the unit.
One of the very toughest driving lights made.

And they look great as well.

Annette, yes you get covers with the OEM lights. They are heavy black plastic and say, "MINI" across the front. Here is a pic.

I REALLY like mine, Annette.

Well the baja ones are cool, but at $300 per light and that doesn't seem to include brackets much less install I'm thinking I'll have to pass on those.
Outmotoring has the OEM set up, so I may just order from them and drop them at the dealer and tell them to do the install. It's not like taking the car back to them a month from pick up and driving a loaner and then picking up again is easy, It's a half day each trip.
Truthfully, I just like the OEMs the best.

Yea, certainly more expensive. But consider that these lights will be on your car for years, likely. Then amortize the extra cost over the lifetime of your ownership and then factor in that you can remove them and keep them when you sell and they suddenly aren't so expensive. I've seen too many people get overly concerned about cost on products only to wish they'd spent the extra money up front for something superior.

Do you have these mounted on your car? At over 4" thick I'm not sure how they'd look on a Mini. Got any pics of them mounted?
