does anyone know of a device or the mods to keep all the sand off the rear window? would it be the "diffuser" product that i've seen; it attaches to what appears to be the bottom of the rear bumper.

It's called a "trunk", but unfortunately I don't think anyone makes a bolt-on for this car

I think with a hatchback like this you're stuck with it.

Every hatchback I have ever had has collected an excess of dirt and dust on the rear end.

If it bothered me too much, I would make a point of wiping the rear end down with a damp rag once or twice between washing.

Yes like with ANY baby, a clean posterior is a happy posterior

Seriously though, exercise some thoughtfulness when selecting (soffft cotton) your (very soffft cotton) cleaning supplies (very very soffft cotton).

Move away from the beach.

Seriously, you have discovered one of the "joys" of hatchback ownership. Seem the aerodynamics at the rear on hatchbacks isn't all that great. Rear windows get filthy on just about every one I've ever seen.

I would imagine if you put a Zeemax wing on the back of the car, it would create a tremendous amount of drag and drastically change the aerodynamics of the back of the car. Perhaps the wake turbulence would buffet the dirt away from the hatch.

There was a post about a year ago that had pics of a mid body spoiler (for lack of a better term) mounted at the lower trim line of the glass and metal on the rear hatch. I believe the site it was plucked from was a MINI aftermarket parts site in Japan.

Sorry I didn't save the pic, but the general consensus was that it would work best as a beer shelf while the car was parked. Which is just a bit more usefull then rear mud flaps, on the MINI.

It has been posted, I thought here but it could have been on M2. A search might be in order.
