I just installed them and love the look. It gives it a mean look from the rear. We drove the car a few weeks ago on a road that had been cindered because of ice. The rear doors, black trim on the rocker panels and the front edge of the rear wheel trim took a beating. They are almost as bad as my '03's. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM for those of us in the snow belt.
The parts dept printed out the installation instructions. If you plan on doing them yourself, you will absolutely need them since they don't come in the bags with the flaps.

We have them on our CM. Installed by the dealer.

Only took them about 2 weeks from time of order and my ability to get up to have them installed.

We have a lot of sand/gravel and snow/slush. They really help keeping the crud off the sides of the CM.

The do add a bit of flair to the body lines, the MINI CM flaps were properly designed to enhance the lines of the car.

I ordered them, but when they went to put them on, they found out that they don't fit on the aero kit.

mudflaps

thanks for all the info. I think for where I live it is a good investment. My car is due in port on the 19th so will check with my ma to see if they are available. I have seen some advertised at out-motoring & Mini Mania.

Yes, call your parts department and tell them you want the mudflaps for the R60. Also make sure they give you a printout of the installation instructions. BTW, we also get 10% discounts through our MINI club on anything purchased through the parts dept and the boutique.

Part numbers are:

front 82 16 2 166 935

rear 82 16 2 156 545

03-mini-S,

I'm not brave enough (or skilled enough) to attempt the install. If I buy you and your wife a beer or two, you feel like installing them on my Countryman sometime? My wife and I want to join PhillyMini so perhaps we could meet at an event?

Was it a fairly straightforward install? They look really good BTW.

Found them on e-bay for $89 for the front and rear set from a dealership in NJ.

I was thinking of doing the fronts only, though for only $89 and a little installation time I suppose doing both front and rear makes sense. Once installed are they solidly in place and not subject to loosening up over time?

When I installed the factory mudflaps on my daily driver ( F-250 Superduty Diesel) I tossed the hardware that came with them which was essentially sheet metal screws and clips. I used stainless steel through bolts, stainless fender washers and stainless nylon lock nuts and liberally applied silicone sealant on the holes I drilled.

We live in a marine environment and I don't use anything other than stainless hardware and if its not stainless I put a coat of wheel bearing grease on the threads of everything otherwise electrolysis gets the best of it and you never get it apart and/or it rots away over time.

I don't know what it entails to install the mudflaps on the Countryman and I'm toying around with the idea of just having the dealer install them then replacing the factory hardware with real stuff.

I think they use existing hardware on the car and don't come with any fasteners. Can someone confirm?

They (dealer) use a full set of new screwsfastners and a sealer/adhesive to make sure the flaps stay secure.

Installation looks straight forward, I watched the MINI tech. do some of the install on our CM. Yes, I get into the work area, we have a couple great dealers.

As for cost of installation, not sure, when we put the flaps into our CM purchase installation was included.

I suspect it would be 1.5 hrs of dealer shop labor, if the tech does a proper job. They may crack it out in less than an hour, if they have done one before yours.

I uploaded to my picasa area a few more pictures of the flaps installed on our CM. One included here.

The install is a piece of cake. I did mine back in Dec, in my garage, figure 30-40 minutes top. Tools are minimal, a screwdriver, a tool to remove a couple of plastic rivets and some cleaner, maybe some 3M adhesive promoter. I did not use all of the supplied screws and did not drill any new holes. Hold the flap in place, note which screw/rivet needs removed, install the blind nut and its a done deal. The 3M seal tape needs a clean surface, I have used 3M adhesive promoter with this tape and it really allows the seal to bond to the surface.
The flaps have done a great job of keeping the car cleaner, this winter has been a good test. Plus the looks are improved, they finish the curve of the well.

If you go to your dealer's website and search for Countryman mud flaps under Accessories, you'll see that the dealer charges the equivalent of 0.5 hours labor to install each set (front or rear), or a total of one hour for all four. Make sure that you bring this to the attention of the SA as I did when I had my front mud flaps installed, because when I originally inquired about the price I was given an estimate that included a couple of hours of labor time (for just the front flaps). I pointed out that the installed price listed on their own website was significantly lower, and they eventually acquiesced.

Thanks Might be something to negotiate if we order ours. Local dealer doesn't seem to have exactly what the little lady wants on the lot.

I installed them myself and I got a 10% discount for them through my PhillyMINI club membership.

I did the rears first...it took a little more than 15 min for each rear once I had the wheel removed. I had to modify the bracket at the rear of the fender well because the clip hole wouldn't line up with the hole in the bracket.
I also took pics of the rear drivetrain and various stickers on the rear axle and suspension since I had the wheels off.
The fronts only took 5 min each once the wheels were removed.

They come with screws and rivets. They reuse some screws and there were some rivets that get thrown out.
