Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S(R56), and Cabrio (R57).
Are there any preventative measures I can institute so I don't have to go seafoming things down the line?
Thank you!,
Gene
The very best way to prevent and control carbon build up is to fit a water/meth injection kit, not only will it prevent carbon build up (if used regularly) it will also give you a performance gain too!
What is the logic behind this? As I run the hell out of my cars I shouldn't have to worry if what you say is true. However based upon what I know about the original problem, I'm uncertain why running it hard would prevent the issue.
There are a few posters here that have the problem, now how many people own 2nd gen MINIs?
What does that tell you?
I would not worry about it.
Because most people don't exactly look at their valves every day. This is not just an issue with Mini's but all direct injection automobiles. The tech was released to the public before it was made perfect. I'm sure most older R56's have the issue...it's just not always obvious as the effects creep up slowly and often don't result in a check engine light (the thing that sadly tells most people there's a problem these days)
