I was at my local *speed* shop and this K&N does fit the R56 non S. Summit's website had an installation video and we all watched it get installed on a PW Cooper. Looks like an easy install. We all laughed at the 4.1 hp gain. But hey, that'll put me over 120 hp for $289. Gotta get what you can get...

And I couldn't get the Borla exhaust tip I wanted - just won't work with the bend in the pipe after the muffler. So time to switch gears and go for the CAI, I think.

Anybody actually tried this? I would be interested in any perceived performance boost and increase in intake noise. (I like quiet.) FWIW you can buy this from Amazon for about $209 with free shipping.

if you like quiet get the ddm one cause its basically a closed k&n filter, what i think ill end up dooing is getting a drop in k&n filter and get the intake snorkel upgrade, cause with out a hood scoop the cold air intake is worthless and robs hp, and we dont want that right?? ill let you kno how mines go for half that price and hp+gas milage goes

The DDM unit is open to the back towards the firewall. From what I've read the temps are cooler in that area. If that is true I would think that the DDM design is better.... not that I have tried either.

In the case of the non-S I don't think the DDM intake is open. It's just an enclosure that enlarges your existing airbox so it can accept a "barrel" type K&N filter. The intake air still flows thru the stock intake tube from an opening by the left headlight. Someone please correct me if I'm confused.

I'd say that explains it. Thanks for the pics.

So one with an opening on the top and the other with an opening on the back. I can't see that they would perform much differently...

i think the one with the opening at the top would introduce air since the exhaust is in the front and it doesnt have a scoop but he one on the back would intriduce a little cooler air since its by the fire wall with no hot air/ or not as hot air coming in, with the snorkel upgrade from vip customs will be raw!!!!! ill report back with a new thread when its complete

should it fit a '10 clubman non-s? i think it supposed to fit as they use the same engine and air box on clubman and hard-top. however, K&N didnt list out the fitment on the 2010 clubman.

so is there anyone have installed it on a 2010 clubman non-s?

3leafz - I have the DDMWorks on my non-S '08 Cooper. It should work for you but if you want to be sure go to Outmotoring.com. Talk to Aaron if you're still not sure - he'll point you in the right direction.

It's definitely raucous from inside. I've never heard it outside, though. I think I'm going to have to have a buddy drive it by me one day soon.

FYI, I have run the DDM, the AirVIP2 and just a K&N with the OEM air box with the following results.

DDM: Loud. Intake temp between 30 to 35 degrees above ambient.

Air VIP2: Not as loud. Intake temp between 19 to 23 above ambient.

K&N, OEM box: Not loud. Intake temp between 18 to 21 above ambient.

Power gain was about the same with each configuration. Intake temp was monitored on each, all the time, using a Scanguage II and the Garmin HD.

Gents,

Tried to install the 69-2005TTK kit on my 2011 this morning. I have an extra tube going into my rubber piping between the airflow sensor and the intake.

Anyone else experience this issue?

u have a picture?
i installed it without a problem, however, the heat shield was too tall, causing it to knock the hood when the engine starts. and it was too loud for my taste, so i returned it.
