recommended tire shops in the area

i am looking to replace my runflats with non-runflat tires that, y'know, don't suck...can anyone recommend a local tire shop to go to for purchase/installation or at least installation?

I am about to do that myself. But I decided I have had it with the brake dust on these light colored wheels that I have to clean daily (or at least should ). I decided to go with tirerack.com. I am getting new wheels with new non-runflat tires. They are mounting them, balancing them, have road hazard, and adding the tire pressure sensors. All for about the same price I paid the last time I changed all four run-flats. They ship them ready to mount and then I have a backup set of tires too (or I could sell them at some point.)

Hey Kevin, Remember me from the Huntsville Auto cross. I search for the performance of tires at the Tire Rack. Then go find them. Sometimes I buy from the Rack and other times from Other vendors. I can get a set of premium tires (Yokohama S Drives) for about $360.00 a set. I then take them to get mounted. I have received tires in 2 days with no special shipping.

Hey Steve. I was actually going to send you a message soon. I was just looking at the teamtac.org site and found the April 16th and 17th dates for the driving school. I am definitely going to sign up for that this year. I had a great time last year and have been wanting to come out and do it again now that I know how it works.

Those S Drives do look nice and very inexpensive. I have been looking at the Yokohama Envigors since they were high-performance all season since I normally have only one set for all year. But I could keep my old wheels and do something. Do you keep the S Drives on all year or swap out in the winter. Granted normally we don't have that many days below freezing temps.

I have 2 sets of wheels with the S drives on both. They are an incredible street tire and good auto cross tires. Premium rubber is nice, but a waste for me. I don't want to spend $1000 per set for race quality tires. I have 4 cars to maintain. I noticed the price has gone up. Again read the review from the tire rack . They reveal a lot about a tire with actual empirical data. I look at the wet weather grade. If it works in the rain it usually work really good in the dry.
I think (due to a scheduling conflict) that we will run 2 or 3 events before the school. That sucks . We usually have the school before the season starts. Great way to learn a car. I was going to take my Honda S2000 to the school to learn rear wheel drive tricks.

I'm happy with tire engineers (formerly Tire Pros) on Grant's mill road. I have a tire getting on in age / wear and asked about pro ration, and they informed me that it was put on in 2007! (My first two sets of tires lasted less than a year). Can't believe I'm actually getting 60K on some tires finally.

Free rotate and balance for life of the tires. I leave Car84 with them for a few hours on a Saturday twice a year.

At first I wasn't thrilled using them, due to a prior to MINI experience. But they gave the best price when I needed a shop years ago, and have been swell to work with. Got a spring caught in a tire recently, and they patched if for free. Get the road hazard- it's worth it. Anyway, Tire Engineers.
