I love a nice matte blue or red. SO much nicer than black.

I vote for red.

I'll see if I have any photos of it still but Mercedes has a Matte White Pearl that looks amazing. While I like black and matte black, it's one of those things now that's been done already, if you're looking for something more unique then a color would be the way to go.

I do like how that BMW looks.

The matte red reminds me too much of primer. Just my opinion, of course.

My bf had a matte black truck and absolutely HATED the paint. It would scratch up if you looked at wrong. Maybe it was a bad paint job, but i've heard a couple times if you want to do matte black then get it done in vinyl.

same here. Vinyl appears to be more durable, and has the added advantage of removability...

Matte-painted cars are just plain hideous. Do whatever makes you happy, but be aware that if you ever want to sell the car, your potential customer base is going to be very small. I would never buy a matte car, even if the price were low enough to cover the cost of a new paint job, because it screams "rice boy," rough driving, and amateurish bolt-on mods.

And how do you feel about that?

Find somewhere else to post please. I have a friend that had a matte paint job on his MINI, and that car was far from "rice boy" as you say. Try stepping out of your box next time.

This car seemed plastic, but I dunno.

More pics of the Lambo from above. I think MotorOn was at the Chicago Auto Show as well.

And the pearl Mercedes...

Im loving that white pearl! And as far as matte paint being rice and having a small customer basis for resale, Id have to disagree. If done right I feel that, yes it would affect a resale, but not to such a huge degree. And if you feel its rice thats fine with me, but please tell me how that mercedes and lambo are rice?

I think it just screams "me too".....

I see a lot of matte paint in the hot rod culture, and I think it looks weird there too, even tho that's where the whole fad came from in the first place. It looks like the owner didn't have enough money to paint his car...which was the case back in the day. Now it's a "look"....and like most "looks", I think it's a fad that will probably go away again, like neon triple wiper blades and rear window blinds.....

Bottom line, it's your car, do what you want........but you did ask for opinions so you have to expect some to disagree.

...i am liking the matte paint jobs shown, ....hard to choose, ...I think matte black or silver work the best UNLESS you add lot's of wording/graphics/stripes, etc... w/ the red or blue -then that could look cool ...yet may be too much.

I suppose if you were worried about resale value or getting tired of the matte look, you could always get a normal glossy paint job in whichever color you want and then wrap your car in satin guard. The stuff isn't cheap though, and there's a reason why when you search on Google Lamborghinis and Porsches come up, but it is an alternative. As an added benefit, the satin guard will protect your paint.

The matte orange is real nice looking. One of the best looking cars I ever saw was a matte yellow Ferrari at the track in Germany about 10 years ago...

Matte paint has got to be done well to look right, if it's not perfectly consistent the look is plastic-like as was mentioned above.
