New Borg Warner EFR Turbo

http://www.turbodriven.com/en/perfor...urbos/efr.aspx

Wonder if they will make one that will fit the mini?

Or if anyone is looking at ceramic bearings in addition to billet compressor wheels......

i'd be wishing for that titanium aluminum pieces they have paired with the dual ball bearing center for our cars... imagine how little turbo lag we'd have with dual ball bearing *imagination land... everyone knows me there*

Think the smallest one they do is the 6255 which seems fine for the mini from a power capability point of view but you have to use their matchbot calculator to make sure which is a bit over my head:

BorgWarner MatchBot

I presume new manifold or downpipe is required with this turbo.....

More info can be found here:

i dont think the 6255 will be the best for our car... power rise it works, but it would require a lot of modification for it to be used, it's not twin scroll so our current manifold wouldn't benefit it, the inlet is huge, so you'd need a custom intake connector for it, you'd need a custom downpipe to go on the vband turbine housing, have to make sure our sensors will connect to it, it would probably only work well with a customized version of DoS Water to air intercooler because of how the compressor outlet is facing, even if you could rotate it down, you would need custom hot side boost tube to go to the intercooler. Honestly i just think that JCW, Hybrid, and our turbos are all we really need. unless you're a major drag strip junkie, you really wouldn't need 350hp except for a bragging right.

still think if BW made a twin scroll dual ball bearing version of our turbo that that thing would sell like mad! higher output, maximum response, and bolts right on are 3 winning combos in my book.

Suggest you look at Garrett turbochargers.
GT2860R or GT3071R
Dual ball bearings
Intregral wastegates
Won't be a direct bolt on but far superior turbo

Check out The Exhaust Depot in Orlando, FL
They do custom up & down pipes and are experienced in MINI systems

Thanks for the advice. Will stick with my JCW Turbo plan. Just thought the EFR Turbo sounded more cutting edge having things like ceramic bearings and lighter wheels in which must all help in spooling up.

So we have the Alta and PAW Motorsport billet wheels coming but no mention from anyone of a ceramic bearing upgrade?

this here is disturbing, ED is now back in [FONT=arial, helvetica][SIZE=2][FONT=arial, helvetica][SIZE=2]Hialeah. Hector screwed to many people over and had to move shop out of orlando. His no-cel DP's dont work on newer cars and instead of honoring his warranty he left town.....good way to run a business IMO

BTW the 3071 is WAY to big, you would have to punch it out to atleast a 2.0 for it to be useful. i personally like the 28rs but lets not get on that again
