$23 Harbor Freight Random Orbital polisher?
$23 Harbor Freight Random Orbital polisher?
I want a low cost random orbital polisher. After claying, polishing, and finally waxing one half of the car, I realize how much elbow grease is required to finish it. Does anyone know if this thing is even worth the $23 they're asking? Or should I just shell out the cash for a real one?

Shell out the cash. Damaging your paint is not worth it.
Buy a Porter Cable 7424XP from Adam's (one of our vendors). Damage can be done with any orbital if not in the hands of someone experienced. Adam's offers hand polishing options that WORK too!

Yeah, all their stuff blows pretty hard.
I'll just drop the cash on the Porter Cable. My friend has one I can try out before I buy. He's an Adams NUT. He's also going to teach me how to use it properly.

The two handed random orbital buffer you showed is ok for applying waxes but does nothing for polishing/buffing swirls out.
I also carry the only modded 7424XP
http://showcarsupplies.com/shopexd.asp?id=115&bc=no
and you can use the NAM 11% discount off that as well found in my signature.
I also made a 2.5hour long DVD a few years ago showing how to buff a car from beginning to end, something that nobody else had/has done, from prepping including taping and testing, to polishing, to waxing and showing the results as we went.

There is nothing wrong with Harbor Freight tools! If I were using these tools for my job, then yeah, I'd get the longer lasting professional tools. But for a guy farting around on his own car in his garage, Harbor Freight tools are perfect!
They do a good job and they won't wreck your car! Heck, the Chinese stole the design from an expensive tool company!
I use the money I save at Harbor Freight and get cool stuff for my MINI!
