Caught in a rock storm...
Darn Houston highways... driving to work today on our local 610 loop, there must have been very small loose stones on the roadway that were getting kicked up by the cars in front of me. It sounded like a hailstorm hitting the front of the car!
Now my windscreen has about 50 super small divots in it. I remember the guy I bought the MCS from telling me that "Mini windshields catch a lot of rocks... " but this is crazy!
- Rant over.

It seems MINIs have the softest paint and windshields of any car...at least of those I have owned. When I face the sun, my 2009 - 14,000 miles - windshield has thousands of pits. My 2004 CRV windshield with 70,000 miles looks like new by comparison.
If I ever replace my MINI's windshield, I hope I can get a non-OEM.

I agree, a NON Oem glass might be better. Maybe i'll just plaster contact paper over the whole thing like I do for the track! lol.
Go talk to a local PDR guy, it will be dirt cheap compared to what a bodyshop will charge you.
I made an insurance claim since there were so many of them. PDR is usually around $100 a panel (from quotes I've gotten around here), but with the number of dents I had the final bill was about $3000. If the dents aren't that bad it shouldn't cost you that much. There are some parts of the car that can't be PDR'd though.

3 years ago, I made an insurance claim as well from a hail storm on my old Honda Accord Coupe. My hood was so bad with hail damage, they didn't even bother with PDR and replaced the hood and resprayed it, along with the front fenders. Then, they PDR'd the roof, trunk and the C-pillars. Long story short, I paid the deductible, and everything was taken care of as good as new. The only bad thing is I was without a car for 2 weeks, since my insurance (State Farm) at the time did not cover rentals.
J Carlos, I would talk to your insurance agent. He might give you a hard time, since it's been a year, but if you have a good relationship with the guy, he might be able to help you out. The worst thing that can happen is he says you are s.o.l.

One trouble with the MINI windshield is that it's not raked back as steeply as most other cars, so when the glass encounters stones, it's more of a direct hit than a glancing blow. I've been pretty lucky so far.
