Retrofit Brake Ducts

I was just wondering if it's possible to retrofit the brake ducts into my 08 MCS. Is it also possible if I decide later to upgrade to the JCW bodykit?

The brake ducts will only fit in the JCW kit, not in the stock body kit, and it is possible to upgrade.

It is possible to retrofit the JCW brake ducts onto the regular MCS bumper. Both mlg2a and I have done it quite a while ago. Does take some time and cutting.

Once you cut the JCW ducts to fit the regular MCS bumper, it will not fit the JCW bumper because of the retrofit.

You could use the aftermarket brake ducts. I remember autoxcooper.com had marketed one before so give that a shot if you want. These may be possible to retrofit for both bumpers.

Question: why do you want brake ducts? is there brake fade?

First of all I love the look and second of all I want to start going on the track. So before I start adding power I got to make sure I can stop and turn.

Here are my planned mods to aid handling:
JCW Body Kit (with ducts)
JCW drilled and slotted brakes.
Larger rear sway bar (to aid turn in)
Change the stupid Run-flats
JCW Strut Brace

Any other suggestions?

The JCW ducts directly fit the JCW Bodykit so not retrofit necessary

For the track, if I were you:
- the JCW body kit is more for looks, and not necessary for track
- brake ducts can be important if you overheat the brakes and they add a little safety margin. This is dependent on your track driving style.
- Do not get the JCW drilled/slotted rotors as they can crack and also can get gummed up with track pad material causing braking vibration.
- Get the 20 mm bar for the best range of adjustments for the rear sway bar. 22 mm is a little large for the track as it can induce oversteer on turn in.
- Get good summer extreme tires such as Dunlop Z1 Star Spec,Yoko AD08 or Bridgestone RE11
- You are better off with camber plates than the JCW strut brace. The USS does a decent job for the track, would recommend that over the strut brace.

And you will need some good track brake pads such as CT XP10 for the front. Do not get track oriented street pads such as EBC Reds or Hawks HPS as the heat will burn them out quickly.

I still have my retrofitted ducts (the black MCS install). The only issue so far has been the MINI techs forgot to reattach them to the wheel liner when installing a new brake pad sensor. And they had to replace the parts on their dime.
