Low tire air pressure light and Warranty

Hey Guys,

I recently had low tire air pressure light on a couple of times - it went off after putting some air. (It is why I suspected there's some leakage on my tire(s))

Will my warranty cover this issue?

Thanks in advance!

generally tires are not covered under warranty (or MINI pre-paid maintenance) unless you bought extra coverage.

In order to properly respond we usually need more details including what year and model is your MINI at a minimum . . .

have you looked for a nail in the tire(s) in question?

After you put in more air you need to go to the menu and reset the pressure indicator system.
Fill all 4 tires to exactly the same amount of pressure, then reset. Next time the light comes on then carefully measure all 4 tires again to find the leaking tire(s).

My TPMS light came on today and I found all 4 tires at 27.5 PSI. I filled them back up to 38 PSI.
Another time the light came on I actually had a nail in one tire but it was only at about 3 PSI less than the others.

If TPMS system is not working correctly then that is a warranty item.

If a tire does not hold air then that is not usually a warranty item from MINI unless you bought the extra policy.

Quick question. I keep seeing on this site people indicating that they are putting 38psi in their tires. I have a 2010 MCS and thought that the chart on the door states 33psi unless if you are exceeding 100mph. As much as I would like to 100mph on a daily basis, not gonna happen. 38psi seems like an awful high tire pressure......

My tire pressure light came on recently, too. I simply called my dealer and asked if they could reset it. They checked my tire pressure, added a touch of air, and had me in and out in about 10 minutes and did not charge me for anything.

Due to the MINI sales structure

many owners are an hour, or hours from their dealer

BUT - dealer adjusted your tire pressure

you must be what some would call a trophy wife

My dealer(s) would laugh me out of the shop for that request

My door sticker says 35 PSI F&R. The yellow +100 mph sticker says 38 F and 41 R. The tires themselves say 51 PSI max. They are the stock 15" all seasons.

Seams like I fill the tires more often on my MINI especially after a long trip but I have never had a car with TPMS. So this time I put in a bit more.

My 2010 JCW door decal recommends 38psi in my 205/45/17 Dunlop runflats.

Go by your door sticker. You must have 16's same as we do, as ours also says 33psi.
