New MCS Camden owner

Hey everyone just picked up my new Canadian White Silver MCS Camden yesterday, so far everything is great but just got a few problems/questions.

USB port - fat32 usb stick with music ---> not working, do I need a specific
format for it to work?

USB port - usb to ipod ---> not working, do I need an additional ipod connectivity kit for usb interface, or would I just need to stick with the aux port?

Armrest - no armrest is bugging me, I didn't see this as an option anywhere on the website yet I see people having armrests. Was there an factory armrest that was optional/standard in the US? or are most of your armrests aftermarket. If so which would be a good one?

Homelink - N/A? Didn't see this as an option either so I thought it might be standard. Could this easily be added on by switching the rear view mirror or anything?

Any input would be great

Thanks!

we have an Audio and NAv seciton where all of this is discussed for 2nd gen cars here. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...and-audio-201/

but to get you started. FAT is what is needed for the USB to work. Most USB sticks come with other software on them that can cause problems as well

For theh iPod there is a cable that is required and in the USA it is supposed to be provided. In Canada, Mexico and many other countries it is not provided. So if you are in the USA tell your dealer to get you one no charge. If out side the USA then it will cost you the equivalent of about $100 US for the cable.

there is a place on the website to order this but many people do not like the OEM one and purchase an aftermarket or the MINI Euro Style from one of the many vendors here at NAM https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/vendor.php

this has been discussed in the Modifications > Electrical Section and there is some debate as to getting it to work. It seems older cars (2007-2008) are much easier to add some options as on the new cars they have left out wiring harnesses. I believe you may have had to have a special option package like Cold Weather or something to actually get this.

Options have changed form year to year and so have what is in each package and it is hard to keep up. Then there are the differences in options depending on the county you live in as well, as the same package in the USA and Canada are different.

Searching is your best friend here so I would suggest that you check out the different sections and you will learn a lot about your new car.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm still unable to get mp3 to play from USB, I've tried both FAT & FAT32 formats. So if no I'm not mistaken, you said I need the Y-Cable from BMW for ipod to work? So I cannot use a USB to ipod dock connector?

I'm also having trouble determing which is the Euro Armrest, i sit the one that flips open for about $250?
