my Alpine (audio upgrade) tweeter developed a dent

i had my dealer install the Alpine Audio Upgrade Kit prior to my JCWs delivery, it has performed flawlessly todate, its a month old now and i just noticed that the left side "tweeter" developed a "dent". it still sounds well, but i can certainly see the dent approx 5mm in length

any ideas? i wonder if it can be covered under warranty.

Do you mean a dent in the grill cover, or in the actual speaker when you look through the grill? In any case, would you say that you just didn't notice it until now, because it's very unlikely that it happened by itself.

Warranty will depend on the policy of MINI in your country. It would be covered in the US.

The dent is likely in the dust cover (I have one as well) and will not effect performance. This has happened to a few of us.

the dent is on the tweeter itself inside the grille. the silver aluminum cone is dented. i really find it weird.

The silver cone is the dust cover (or so I've been told). If you read through the original Alpine upgrade thread you will see some conversation on it.

what could be a possible cause for this? is it really prone to denting itself?

It is really, really thin and the plastic cover isn't that strong. Someone may have bumped it. Mine came out of the box that way.
