I would assume so considering the current Stage 1 works with the JCW B48.

Is this an updated version of the B48 Stage 1 Beta tuner or an addition?

No! Only our N18 tuner is CARB Approved. The B48 Stage1 has been submitted but it might take a year or two before they actually approve it. This BETA JB4 I don't think could ever be approved in California as it will be a multi-map system.

Unless you take it out before going in for service at the dealer, yes.

It sounds great. But I was inquiring, with a piggyback like this. If I live in Canada, how would the car react in extreme cold with a tune. I see you test things in California. I guess you have some feedback from other BMWs.

The JB4 is an upgrade to the existing Stage1 tune.

Sorry I'm new to this, but will there be an update compatible with the B38?

Terry, any word on B38 compatibility?

EDIT: just read through the n54tech thread and it seems the system will also work for the B38.

I'm looking into purchasing and I'm reading ahead.

I'm having trouble following the install. Is there a video like there is for other BMS products?

First I need to purchase the Stage 1 BETA then the JB4 upgrades?

Will I have to splice my car's wires or is that only with the meth kit?

Does this provide any additional performance gains over the Stage 1 because to my understanding it only lets you do various maps? I'm just a little confused as info is sparse and I don't entirely follow the BMS website.

Who can I contact to have my questions answered?

If anyone here can help or has it installed please reply or pm me and we can email/text/anything! I want this but I don't really understand the difference and i'd like to exploit this product to it's full potential.

I can help a little bit, I had stage 1 and the data cable so I just bought the upgrade kit. They have the complete kit which includes everything you need. There is no splicing into stock wiring, I had to add two wires to my existing harness. You have to run a cable thru the firewall, I used a hanger and pushed it through from the inside. I post on n54tech.com and Terry usually answers questions quickly there. There is only one map right now till they get more feedback. The board is different for stage two, everything feels quicker and it is very smooth through the power band. If you have any other questions I will try to answer.

I really appreciate it. I posted the same questions on n54 tech as well. Do you have a manual transmission and does this make more power than stage 1 or is it just a different feel?

Question: where can you purchase the Stage 2/JB4 upgrade for the Stage 1 part?

Thanks!

i'd like to buy both at the same time. I wonder if they will pre-assemble together so I will not have to?

Absolutely, if we see both on an order, we'll assemble it for you. And we expect to have the full JB4 B48 system on the site shortly to make ordering it that way easier.
