Grand Prix Trois Rivieres Aug 13-14

Opening a thread for GP3R

Schedule : http://www.grand-am.com/assets/2010T...elimSched2.pdf

Only two cars entered for this race:

197 Sarah Cattaneo & VJ Mirzayan
198 Randy Smalley & Owen Trinkler

GP3R is a good track for the Mini's. We were on the pole here last year and led half the race until a 'seat malfunction' at the driver change put us down the line up. This should be a good race for the team.

The 196 will sit out this race as it gets some updates for Miller in September.

Randy

Two in a row, congrats! The #198 was the only car to post a lap in the 1:14's.

Is this race going to be televised? The website (grandam.com) only has it listed as "tba".

GA Press release Link: Trinkler, Smalley Win Again in ST

The 198 won the race. It also ran the fast Lap of the race @ 114.765. Great driving by Owen and good pit strategy ruled the day. We fueled the car and swapped tires with 40 minutes to go. The advantage of fresh tires assured the Win.

There was a threat from the 26 Mazda with 15 minutes to go but he tangled with VJ in the 197 who was in the process of regaining a lost lap from a prior flat tire.

The 198 has raced three times in 2010 . . . 3rd in Miami, 1st in New Jersey, 1st in Trois Rivieres.

197 placed 9th after an incident late in the race with one of the Freedom Mazdas. The 197 also suffered a flat tire when it ran over some debris.

Randy, it may be time to start sand bagging a bit.

I'd love a Team RSR decal any chance of scoring a couple?

RSR, really happy for you guys! Perseverance has paid-off, and you are most deserving. Two in the Top 10, including the victory, again, is simply amazing.

I apologize if I missed it, but what were track temps & humidity like? I see the fastest lap on 7, so wondering if it was particularly hot...

Thanks!

It wasn't too bad . . . high 70's at the start, fairly dry. Owen put down the fast lap on a restart with a clear track. GP3R is pretty short so you are always in some traffic.

Some hotshoe driving and a good pit strategy was the secret. Go to the team website and you can see the hot lap video. Click on 'media'.

I see what you mean by the somewhat clear track there. Really cool to see the RPM's and gear info too.

Not sure the last time an ST car won three in a row, if ever, but I'm sure you all are trying for such! Best to RSR at Miller.
