o2 simulator bad?

I was talking to a friend of mine that is a mini certified mechanic about the o2 simulator that i was going to install, because i am currently not running any cat and wanted the service engine light to go off. He told me not to use it because he has work on some minis that have gone bad using this chip. Anyfeedback of you guys experience? Is it going to make the car run too lean?

I read that it doesnt turn the SES light off, and there is too little room. thats why i thoought the o2 would do the trick

what o2 sim do you have? This is to simulate the 2nd o2 sensor which just monitors the cat, it does not have any function on the fueling as say the 1st o2 sensor does.

You have to run the O2 sensor before the cat, but the one after the cat can be handled a few different ways. I ran an 02 simulator for a while - over a year - even though I started off without a cat, then with a cat. There were no problems. I now run an O2 sensor on an L bend that you can get on the web--it needs to be set up properly to avoid hitting under hard acceleration and braking, but you could use the spark plug trick with the L bend also.
Of course, you should prolly be running a cat...

Yes it is for the second o2 sensor... i know theres not much of a gain runing catless but i like the sound, and spending $ on a high flow cat to have the light on is not a choice... guess i could give it a try...

Try a J shaped bung that points upstream and your 02 sensor will fit.
