R56: No audio from any of the audio sources all of a sudden.
All of a sudden today the audio in my 2007 R56 cut out. It was working earlier today.
Nothing from any of the audio sources. No satellite radio, no ipod, no audio in, no navigation, no terrestrial radio. Not even voice command.
I have the Navigation system and "premium" audio system.
Any ideas? Could it be a fuse?
Thanks,
Mike

I ran into a similar problem. But I'm assuming you tried to restart the car to see if it reset itself. If the car is not receiving power from the battery, the audio will not work. I'm guessing you have already started your car (thus the battery is connected), but just in case, check if either of the terminals are loose at all.
Yeah, car started just fine. I shut it down and started it again and nothing different. Everything works fine, just no audio. Wait, no, I take that back. When I push a button to try to turn the audio on and off or try to change audio sources, there's a delay.
Wierd.
Wierd.
I would
Check the fuses. On the r55 it's on the passenger side right next to the door behind a plastic panel. On the back side of the panel there is a list of each fuse and the function of the component being fused. If you don't have a meter to check, just pull out a fuse that you're not using at the moment (one of the same fuses, the list also states what kind of fuse it is) and plug it in to see if you get audio. If that still doesn't work, it's time to go to the dealer.
This happened to me recently right after I replaced my speakers. I though I screwed something up until I realized that I had NO sound from ANY source.
I pulled over, shut down the engine, then restarted...no change. So I drove a few miles and tried it again, then everything worked fine. Hasn't happened since.

Happened to me too....i thought i did something wrong as well. So i went looking for fuses that might have blown. I ended up pulling about 15 fuses...they were all fine...but somehow the act of pulling them and putting them back in made it go away. Gremilins????
That is called "reseating". For a troubleshooter it comes soon after "rebooting".

Some amps will protect themselves by cutting out audio if there is a short in the speaker wires. If you're handy with an ohmmeter you could ohm-out the speaker connections to check for a short.
