internal cracks in the foglight

I know there are a couple other threads on this issue, but I thought I should start a new one. So when I was checking my tire pressure yesterday I noticed that my passenger side fog light has a couple cracks in it. At first I thought a rock had hit it, but I ran my finger over the fog light and it is completely smooth showing no impact at all. This means that the cracks are coming from inside the fog light. Do you think the dealer would replace it under warranty or has anyone had this kind of problem? I just want to find out some info on this before the dealer tries and make me pay for it. Thanks.

P.S. It's freaking hard to take clear picture of these fog lights.

Funny, I had this happen to both my fog lights within weeks of it being new. Same thing, cant feel from the outside and no water getting in, but multiple cracks on both surfaces. Dealer wouldn't fix it under warranty and claims rocks hit it. No other mini's i've seen at rally's/meets have the same prob. maybe something with us both having DS/B's

I Need to go check my DS/B lol

Boston...do you too, have stock bulbs?

I could see if maybe Davids Hoens did it... heat can stress plastic easily

i also dont run my fogs everywhere though sometimes i like to

EDIT: welp my DS/B fogs are still very much intact even w 43K miles

I don't think my Hoen fog lights did it because I was told they operate at manufacturer suggested wattage. Also, if the Hoen fog lights were cracking the fog light housing because of heat we would probably hear about it because a good amount of people on NAM have Hoen fog lights. Besides, I rarely run my fog lights anyway. Anyway I talked to one dealer and they gave me the whole B.S. about a rock hitting it so I am going to try and talk to another dealer in the area. I still think that it's defective plastic or something like that because I really think if a rock hit it there should be a rough patch on the fog light or at least condensation collecting on the inside from the "rock chip crack"

That makes sense. I too would guess rock chip though. The plastic seems like a more "Rubbermade" type than hard 'shatterable' plastic, so a rock could have almost bowed it in, cracking the inside surface, and not really affecting the outside maybe?...Just a wild guess there.

But also based on the location, one would think you may have some bumper paint damage there too... of which i cant see any
