Weird Noise

Hey every one I just have to say your site is pretty good and very useful. I am new to the Mini world and have a question. I own a 06 MCS and sometimes when it gets really hot outside i have a weird noise that i can feel in my steering wheel. I seems like a fan is coming on. It last a couple of minutes. Does any one have any idea as to what that is, and if it is normal? Shoot i posted in the wrong section...Sorry

It probably is your fan.

The first generation fans would sometimes have a resistor in teh fan control circuit go bad. When that happens your fan doesn't run in low speed. It will kick into high speed when it senses it needs cooling. The high speed fan is really loud.

You should get it checked out.

Also, this post belongs in the first generation section. The forum is divided into First (02-06) generation and second (07+).

The owners in the first gen section can usually answer your questions on a first gen better than the second gen owners (and vice versa)
