R50/53 hose clamp question
hose clamp question
im swapping my power assisted steering tank to an aluminum forge motorsports unit and i need to disconnect the lines running out the bottom of it but they are attached with strange hose clamps that im not sure how to disconnect. any help would really be great. thanks
There are two types of hose clamps on Coopers that i know of. The first is a simple squeeze type. It has 2 prongs that you have to squeeze together to loosen it.
The second you will need a small-medium size flat head to remove them. Basically just put it in the metal loop and twist. To close it use a pair of channel locks and just squeeze it back into place.
But I'd prefer just replacing them with normal screw type clamps.
I'm going to go take a look at My tank, will be back with you in a sec.
Hmm..... I dont know, try the screwdriver thing. My tank is full of fluid, so I don't want to try it.

I think you're talking about the squeeze type. If i recall, you just squeeze them and they come apart, but I've never figured out how to reuse them. If that is indeed the case, I'd pick up some of the old style clamps to reinstall - good luck
