New 2010 Cooper has loud radiator fan noise

Hey guys,

I used to own an 06, and recently bought a new 2010 cooper, and I'm noticing the radiator fan when it comes on is really loud and can be felt thru the steering almost like a vibration.. is this normal? I don't remember my 06 doing this, either that or the fan is just coming on more then it used to because its very noticeable. It seems to come on more when the ac is on obviously, but it also comes on when just sitting as well. I checked the coolant level and all is fine.

Im pretty sure its coming on at normal times just seems overly loud, I've only had the car for about 2 days, should i take it in already to get this checked out?

Thanks in advance.

I think the loud fan is normal... Haven't noticed being able to feel mine through the steering wheel, though.

Ah okay thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one with a loud fan. Ill just have to keep an eye out in case it gets worse.. I'm hoping it's not a bad bearing or something in the fan.. Guess time will tell.

Thanks again.

In my car when I turn on the A/C a fan comes on, it's loudish but not too bad. Now if I'm stuck in traffic for a while it seems like a second fan will come on that is loud and I can feel it though the steering wheel too. Just a couple of seconds and then it settles down....

After driving in the Smokey Mts this past week my fan motor would not stop for a long time . i guess the car was cooling off after climbing up a road . It would stay on for 5 min or so some times ?

You should have heard what mine sounded like when I drove home tonight in 104 degree heat (at 7pm, in early June.. can't wait for the Phoenix summer!). Loud as hell and roaring like a freight train. Normal, when the engine gets hot. I'll be hearing a lot of this for the next 4-5 months. :0

Normal. I just moved to CA from Colorado and if the cooling fan came on, it was on the low setting, barely noticeable. Now that I'm in CA and using the AC more, the high speed kicks in and is loud. Totally normal though and it stays on now when I park in the garage for a few minutes on hotter days.
