Plug/cover to fill fog light holes in lower bumper?

I posted this as a reply to an older post but maybe it will get more attention as a new post ...

I am looking for a plug that will go into the hole in the bumper where the fog lights go. Something like a solid plug that would snap in and fill and seal the hole. If it can't snap in, I'd consider using double sided tape if it looks good. I don't want to put screw holes in the bumper to attach anything.

The hole is almost a circle, roughly 2" in diameter at its biggest to 1 7/8" in diameter at its smallest.

The reason for doing this is becuase the fog light "filler" parts got knocked out and are broke and won't stay in anymore.

Ideas?

Would wheel center caps fit? I didn't measure, but they look close.

I have a pair of the OEM filler caps. Would you be interested in buying them?

I'm thinking on it too, because my 2005 has the same issue. Maybe something simple and cheap that looks good. Small container? cut down, painted, etc. etc. I'll be checking back to see what you come up with.

Item #7

I'll sell mine for $20 + shipping. I installed foglights on my MINI and no longer need them.

Did you just want to replace your pieces that broke? Yes replacement parts are available for any part of the car.

No I didn't want to replace them with the same part as what they clip in to also may be damaged. Also, they'll probably just fall out again. I was looking for some simple/cheap circular plug that could go into the bumper.

For example, think of the chrome trim rings you can get for that area. If those were solid (not just a ring), that would be what I am looking for.

Is the opening actually oval like that, because finding an oval plug will be difficult to find.

I have plastc plugs for my front upper strut towers....nice clean look from a good company. I can ask them for plug to fit a 2 inch hole if that would work for your application ?

Heck I took mine off/out on purpose. Looks better without them. Gives the illusion that you have brake ducts if nothing else. I can see no way to "plug" the hole without body work that would end up looking good..

Why do you want to fill the hole????

It sounds like you want a plug that you can insert from the front. Why not just take off the bumper and cover the hole from the back side by gluing a flat piece of plastic or rubber? Removing the bumper is easy and will also allow you to assess the actual condition of the clip attachments. After examination, you might even decide to go for OEM replacement pieces after all.
