Hex head screw stripped!

hey guys. I have a few hex head screws that are stripped and I have no idea how to get them off. They are on the intercooler. Anyone have any ideas as to what I could do?

First, I suspect the hex head screws you are refering to are actually Torx Bit heads. The Torx bit heads will strip if you use an allen head wrench on them. Here are some options:

- If you have been using on allen head wrench you might try the proper size Torx bit to see if it will grab enough to remove the screw.

- Try grabbing with vise grips but there is not much to grab onto so it probably will not work.

- Cut a slot in the screw head and use a screwdriver to remove. Try a small cutting wheel on a dremal tool.

- Try an easy-out. You drill a hole in the head and use the easy out to try and screw the bolt out.

- Drill out (off) the screw heads, to remove the head, by using a drill bit a little larger than the screw threads. When the head is removed, you can remove the IC cover and grab the remaining screw threads with vise grips or small pipe wrench.

Well needless to say I am an idiot for using allen wrenches. I did find the correct torx bit and was able to get everything off and my fuel injectors in. Thanks for the help guys!!
