Speedo above the steering wheel

I am so sorry if this has been covered many times, I did a few searches and found nothing... I found a 2005 MC for sale, and looking at the pictures I saw that the speedometer and... Tachometer? (forgive me if its not called that!) are above the steering wheel. The speedo isn't in the center and the car does not have navigation. Is this a special model? I honestly have never seen a MC without a speedometer in the center of the dash.

This was an option called the Chrono Package. It replaces the center speedometer with a different looking fuel gauge, an oil pressure gauge, an oil temperature gauge, and and an engine temperature gauge.

This option was stopped with the second generation MINIs.

From what I've read and seen, there is also a Chrono package that has a clock I believe in the center of the dash along with other goodies where the speedo usually is.

*Edit*

Beat me to it Steven lol

This adds at least another 2-3,000 dollars to the value of a MINI !! LOL

Thank you all! It was interesting to see, but honestly I prefer the giant center speedometer!

I agree with having the center speedometer. However, there is a part of me that likes the Chrono package for what it is, so I enjoy seeing it when I check out other MINIs.

Chrono is nice with the oil pressure and temp gauges. Always nice to know what's going on under the bonnet!

I found myself never looking at the big center speedo and just looking at the little digital speed readout at the bottom of the tach. That's why when I went looking for my latest MINI one of the must haves was the chrono package. Like others have mentioned I like knowing the oil temp and pressure, and coolant temp.

I was actually thinking of swaping out my nav unit and installing the Chrono package, but the scanguage was an easier fix, and my nav unit once it was updated with the latest software works fine for me.
