Just buy a used mini?...replace the cabin air filter...

Trust me, if they traded/sold the mini...it is time. (This applies to anyone who hasn't done it recently)

Mine had about 1/4 inch of fuzz all over it. I am surprised the air even worked for him.

It is a snap to replace. (Even for large men like me)

*please forgive the commercial before the vid, but the tutorial is well worth it if you never did this before...Just yank it off like he did.

Keep in mind this car had well over $10K in receipts for maintenance in the glove box but I guess they never told him about this part. He changed everything else....

Mine was pretty dirty when I looked at it. The only reason that I knew that it existed was the price sheet that the dealer gave me. $200 !!!!

I have no idea why anyone would pay that much. Filter was about $15 and labor was 3 minutes.

Replaced mine shortly after I got my 2005 MC in January and was pleasantly surprised to see that the old one was pretty decent.

Replaced mine tonight, very simple and only 17.00, the one I had in there was not pretty, made a big difference in the amount of air coming out of the vents

I found this link in another thread

http://www.atozautolights.com/2006-M...OPER-7557.html

I didn't look into shipping pricing nor do I have any experience with them, but I paid more than that by a bunch. I would buy a few next time since the airflow on low is now about what it was on high before I changed the old nasty one out.

Does anyone know what brand the filter sold by Mini is? Or who makess it for Mini?

Which aftermarket brands are the best?

Which should I stay away from?

I'm looking for the carbon version for an '06 cabriolet with the automatic climate control.

Thanx!

I bought a Wix from Rockauto.com

It was the carbon activated version. They have several other brands too. I don't think it matters much unless you have allergies. It's like a home furnace filter except smaller and more flexible.
